My husband’s entire family was put into those concentration camps, during WW2. We had the honor of watching our son be honored, at the Tule Lake pilgrimage, for the legal battles to preserve as much of the Tule Lake camp as possible. We also watched you speak of your own family’s incarceration.

TY, Mr. Takei, I signed the petition. Similar thing happened to my dad when he was a child growing up on a farm in Poland. Armed Russian soldiers busted into his home, rounded up the family, and shipped them all in cattle cars to Siberian prison labor camps. Humans need to do better.

The passage of time has resulted in people just assuming "it couldn't possibly happen again!", only, it has, and it will keep on happening so long as people are suckered into believing that rich people are their friends...
As long as we keep categorising humans into binaries like we're cattle, it will keep happening. It creates an 'us vs. them' situation which then invariably devolves into 'I'm right, you're wrong.' Then its even easier to dehumanise. Once you dehumanise, it's all over but for the band playing.

Thank you for working towards shutting down Alligator Auschwitz. It seems the facility most like the WW II Japanese-American internment camps. But in fact conditions at other Florida detention centers, ones in Los Angeles, in Texas, in Louisiana, in New Jersey are as despicably, inhumanely run.
I'm late seeing this, that "camp" is apparently closed now, but those who were held there are still being held elsewhere under similar conditions, and more are arrested daily. This MUST stop, and those held given fair hearings ASAP, or if that's not possible, release them now.

A minor correction: Many of them WERE born here! Since due process of law is denied, they can't plead their status. They look too brown? They get put away. ~80,000 of the ~120,000 Japanese internment victims were born in the US. And of course, every single indigenous American was born here too.
