Let's stop and read this again. A Democratic Governor is offering logistics support to Texas lawmakers who are fleeing persecution. Their offense? Not agreeing with #Trump. This isn't in the DRC or ISR, or RUS ... this is in the USA, no longer the leader of the free world by choice of the few.

Although I have no sympathy at all with the Texas Republicans, this is just another example of the power of money in US politics. Time to limit political donations, in cash or kind, to the same levels as in Europe.

Would absolutely love someone to explain (like I'm 5yo) how the "host" governor can offer any sort of protection/immunity to legislators from another state...??? I'm all for it. Love this. I just don't get how.

I would add that the last time a group left the state like this, it was across the border to Oklahoma, where the governor would almost certainly have cooperated in any efforts against them, so going to Illinois is quite different.

Maybe just by refusing to have IL law enforcement cooperate in any efforts to send them back? Not sure.
