iirc, the excuse actually turned out to be true in this case. It was caused by someone messing up al tag while updating, specifically because they were linking to that section for related updates about Trump's latest court battles on the subject. It ended up screwing up the text until it got fixed.

Coding error my ass. I've been hand-coding web pages professionally since 1994 in many different languages, both client-side and server-side. There is nothing that would cause this short of malicious intent.

I'm not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed that in this case, the excuse is true. They were linking those sections to info about court cases involving them and accidentally deleted an XML tag. It's good that they weren't actually trying to do that. But it also wouldn't surprise me if they were.
