A man I deeply respect was denied a place on the transplant list for lungs damaged in service because the VA won't approve the surgery even in the event a donor is found. Trump is making things worse, but lets not pretend our vets haven't had progressively shittier treatment since the 50's.

My brother Danny served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam starting in 1968. He did 2 tours. Came back 100% PTSD. In & out of VA psych wards until he died of a heart attack at age 40. I saw the lost souls at the VA psych wards. Trump got off easy w/bone spurs & now he's screwing current veterans🤬😤😓

Which is hilarious to me because I have a bone spur in my foot - on the inside of my little toe to be exact. The degree to which it impacts my life is that I sometimes say "ow" when I've sat cross-legged too long and squish it. It's a traumatic and disabling injury -I've only hiked 22km this week...

My dad - a Vietnam vet, who came home and then worked in the VA for nearly 20 years would be so pissed about this. And he wasn’t a huge fan of the VA after he left due to staffing disagreements back in the late 90s

I am a S/C disabled Nam vet. EVERY time the VA sends me to community care because the VA can't do what I need, the CC facility over charges the VA..the VA only pays what was agreed to...the CC bills ME for the over charge and when I don't pay, they turn ME to a collection agency. FUCK trump & MAGA

As a non-veteran I was unaware of that. Then I'll amend my statement that all medical related services should be pulled out of the VA. I personally think that forcing our veterans into a ridiculously small "network" does them a disservice. Put every US citizen onto Medicare and simplify everything.

Only in the USA are networks even a thing. All the rest of us can literally see any doctor in our country.

They may have - but our vets deserve medical services at any provider. The fewer hoops they need to jump through the better.

Not all doctors and hospitals take Medicare. It’s not as great as people think. It’s not free. It’s better than nothing and some employer insurance. We need universal healthcare.

As stated in my first post - I'm actually looking for a universal healthcare solution - just calling it Medicare because that's the most likely route for us to take. Enrolling everyone there and just making that the default "health insurance".
