Prompted by his meeting with Vladimir Putin, yesterday Trump declared his intention to end mail-in voting in the U.S. But let's not be fooled, this isn't just his latest gambit to ensure Republicans hold the House. It's pure Trumpian authoritarianism, and it should alarm us all.

Mail in voting is important for many who can't travel to voting stations due to disability. I live in the UK with a disability that keeps me housebound, without the ability to post my vote I'd have no vote. Ending posted votes is discrimination.
Postal voting is normal in UK, but is a minority use as Polling Stations are *everywhere*, intentionally easy to access. Also in several other European nations. Apparently it exists in Russia too, but of course no-one actually counts any votes.
I'm aware of this. Polling stations are not always easy to access if you live in the country. My polling station is a couple of miles away but even if it was in my village I wouldn't be able to go. I can't even walk to my local store due to my disability so postal voting is essential.

trump has no authority to unilaterally rewrite election rules. Any changes to rules would either have to be done by individual state legislatures or by Congress, and even then Congress would have limited authority since some election rules would require a constitutional amendment to change.

I think Dems in blue states should make it illegal for the Republican party to run candidates in any election. Because they refuse to follow the rules of democracy, such as agreeing to abide by the results of the election. That should be enough to cancel the party.
