Well that backfired.
Well that backfired.
She left close to 20%. What’s the problem?
That’s misleading, she tipped over 15%.
No tax on tips isn’t what you think. I have 2 siblings that tend bar, they aren’t as excited as you would think they would be.
Republicans are masters in the art of hypocrisy.
A hypocrite republican?!! Oh allow me to feign surprise here. The deep aorta of hypocrisy that gives lifeblood to this fascist wanna-be republican party is as predictable as their crocodile tears for our Constitution; they clutch it in public while stabbing it in private. Small tip is expected.
Das ist ein wichtiger Punkt, den viele übersehen! Die Tip-Deduktion ist ein bisschen wie ein Haken im Kartenhaus, oder?
Also it's still getting taxed unless the person collecting tips is set up to do deductions:/
This was a trick to get workers to report their tips- plain and simple. NOW your gross pay is higher and you might not qualify for programs like SNAP, or Medicaid. Imagine taking this crap over keeping 100% of tips you don't report.
That was a cash tip, that server wasn't reporting it anyway.
I rarely tip less than 25% and I make 1/3 of what she makes per the article
This is just petty. $3 vs. $3.40? Let’s just end tipping in America and live like decent Europeans do.
$3 + loose change, so she could’ve tipped 20%. Not a fan of hers, but this is misguided outrage.
The real outrage is the still-unconscionable base salary rate for tipped jobs!
Raise salaries, end tipping, post the true prices of meals. Tipping has long since stopped being a reward for good service and feels more like a guilt trip nowadays.
And the server still has to tip out the cook and the busser
Yeah they should unionize and demand better pay.
She has that look where she's saved pretty much every penny, forever. Of course she's cheap with the tip, even when she's trying to make a pointless point.
Looks like a corpse with lipstick.
She just figures. If they don't have to pay taxes on the tips then she doesn't have to leave as much cuz she never wanted to tip in the first place
Cash is tax free.
No tax on tips...gimme a break! How about a living wage?!
I worked in food service for years when I was young. I waited tables some but mostly cooked for my living. I was always told that TIPS ment "to insure prompt service". The amount of the tip was due to the service rendered. But now they want tips for doing a job that should be better paid for.
You reap what you sow….
technically there's no taxes on tips if you don't tip. #Checkmate
Close to 40% of workers who receive tips don’t make enough to pay taxes. Tipped workers also only make up 2.5% of all employment.
Get rid of sub-minimum wage, set a higher minimum wage and tax tips like all income. Problem solved.
I would argue that a smaller, tax-free tip lets the server bring home the same net pay so is income-neutral. But mostly I argue that businesses -- restaurants in particular -- should pay their staff and not outsource that to their customers.
This lady contributes to what's wrong with the world.
Well the money saved on the tax brings it to a proper tip. No? lol. She’s cheap and a liar like the rest of them.
Don't spend that $3.00 tip in one place.
They could have just voted for "pay your employees proper wages instead of relying on tips" instead, cos the rest of the world, you know, pay employees so they don't have to rely on tips, because tips are optional, a reward for good service, not a requirement...
Learn all the facts about "not tax on tips." It's pretty much a scam. Not to mention, the law is scheduled to disappear in short order, while the elimination of tax on billionaire's private planes is codified forever.
😂🤣
She was just being a "fiscal conservative" 😂 "We will become fiscal conservatives again when a Democrat is in the Whitehouse" Mitch McConnell 2017 They are fiscal conservatives my ass, they are just greedy hypocrits
Just because business owner print 20% tips (and more) on receipts does not mean customers are responsible for paying their employees wages.
"No tax on tips" is just a stupid gimmick for outsourcing the responsiblity of paying people a living wage. If they actually cared about the working class they'd raise the minimum wage or even institute a Universal Basic Income that guaranteed everyone has enough to live on.
Who gives a shit! A majority of places still pay servers about $3 an hour because they receive tips. Raise their hourly wage so they aren't reliant on tips to live.
Fuck tips. Pay the people and put the tax and tip on the menu price just like THE ADULT COUNTRIES DO. (only 20% of Americans have a passport)
I still tip the same OF course I usually only go out to eat once a week.
🤣

Consider the fact that the national minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, while the minimum wage for tipped employees in Ohio is $5.35 per hour. Neither of these numbers reflect the true cost of living in this country. We're expected to backfill the wages of people because of corporate greed. Evil people.
Also, $7.25 per hour wasn't enough to live on when it was raised before. There are 800-900 billionaires in this country who have managed to wipe out most of the middle class with their desire for more money. Dirty bastards.
But she left a WHOLE DOLLAR!!!! (Or was that my father in law?)
Always thought tipping was a stupid concept anyway. Pay a fair wage. You might tip a waiter but do you tip the cleaner who comes in after closing? Or the person who washes up behind the scenes? I had a friend who made a week's wages in tips just doing the Fri/Sat night shifts in a strapy tight top
It’s George Takei commenting on a situation where someone’s plan or action ended up having the opposite effect, likely with a humorous or critical tone, though the specific context isn’t clear from the post alone.
Tipped workers usually don’t make enough to pay taxes. So, not taxing tips is meaningless.
