When the Democrats are in control again, new legislation need to be added to better restrict when the President can use the National Guard can be used for such deployments. In fact, I think Congress has given the President too much power and this Presidency has demonstrated abuse of that power.

He does respect the legal decisions of the court. But yes, the Republicans have tried to weaken the power of the Judicial branch quite a bit. Again, more legislation to take back power for decisions that need careful deliberation. I’m not for the looneys that shoot up ICE agents, etc! 😡

In the political history of the US over the course of the last 50 years, Congress has helped transfer certain powers - like those used to impose tariffs to - the President. Congress can enact laws to take certain powers out of the hands of the President - I hope they do.
