Apple pays on every stream and when it does it pays ~2x what Spotify pays Apple (AFAIK) does not generate AI content in order to poach listeners from artists just those two facts alone make Apple far less evil from the artist's perpective I myself like Tidal and Bandcamp

Yeah apple also has sweatshops, intentionally uses software to slow down their hardware, exploits user info, creates invasive tracking and surveillance software, and still uses generative AI for many other things. Sure one of their apps might be slightly better than spotify. But as a whole? Nah.

I switched from Spotify to Tidal when I found out they had invested in military AI tech. Tidal is much better sound and they pay artists more.

What alternatives do people like best?

I use YouTube/YouTube music all the time. Apparently Tidal is good. Before I used Spotify I used Pandora.

Haven't used that platform in years since they scammed me out of a subscription discount (you know the one, "get three months for the price of one!") that never got applied to my account, and since they invest in tech to kill people, yeah, no thanks...

The only DMs received will be from Charlie Kirk and the like.

Tried using Spotify... it's a nuisance. I have other apps that are simpler and less antiquated than whatever the hell they have going on. Hell, AM/FM would be an option before I tried giving myself a head with Spotify.

Seems like they can't stop giving people more reasons to get rid of it.

This is dumb. Spotify is not a social media. You don't need DMs. I don't even have a friends list on Spotify, because I don't use it that way. Assuming it even has "friends"; I don't know. This means, all that I will ever see from DMs is spam.

Spotify is terrible for artists. You can’t find the names of all the artists who are playing. Jazz and classical music are the worst. Half the music they suggest is AI-composed muzak drivel that they make money from it seems to me.

Well now you can flirt on spotify.......as example for total romance "Bück dich" can be recommended or for more seduction "Mann gegen Mann" from the same artists group
