You know what? Good idea.
Some years ago I was turned down for a teaching position. Three weeks later, they called and said that the person they chose had taken another job. They asked if I would take the position until they could hire someone else. I told them thanks, but I had been hired by the #1 district in the state.
I’ve been doing this for like 3 years with a particular publishing house. I’m waiting for either a job offer or a restraining order. At this point I’d take either one as a win!
Yeh Lord forbid you improve your skill set, so you actually qualify.
"You don't seem to be able to find a candidate that's better than I am, so when can I start?"
It's probably an AI filter. Just write a bot to keep pinging it automatically.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm would AI really want me to work there?
They aren't real jobs. They post them so that they can say that they want to fill them, not because they want to fill them. They have a variety of reasons for doing this.
Good for you!
They heard no bell.
Power move!
It worked for me!
I don't see why any reputable business would have a problem with this. Fair's fair. If they were a firm NO on the applicant, they'll just throw the app in the garbage. But people get rejected for all sorts of reasons that matter one day but don't the next.
Good for you
make small changes-- try the trick where you add lines of text in white that use key words so if they use AI it will pick you.
I've seen the same government job advertised almost every 6 months your years, they don't even change the date on the job description. I just ignore it.
It's either there is no job, or there such a really high turn over of staff, I doubt I would I want to want to work there. I gave up after 4 attempts.
I took a job that didn't let you onto the main floor with access to secure data until you've been there two full years. Found out it's becaus eof high turnover-- the job sucked, I quit after year 2. Worth it though, 1 year paid training, 1 year on a support floor where you had continued training.
I've had some horror contracts, even though I have federal security clearance. Knock on window to get in, no pass issued Moved state, oh the boss is on holidays for 2 weeks, he needs to sign off on your access. 2 weeks of web surfing Government websites 🤷
Oh that last one got better, no mention of Perl (Programming Language) in the interview, he give me a book, learn Perl in 21 days.
I did this and got an interview offer the second time. Unfortunately, I'd already taken another job by the time of the interview. I really wish they'd been like a week faster. Would maybe have changed my whole life.
And yet...they persisted
Sadly, the few times I've tried that, I just got the same 'we want to add your data to your database for future use' type email, with fake data in the footer. First time I consented, my spam to the listed email addresses tripled.
I have inadvertently done this. second time was the charm 🤣
Sad thing is, a lot of advertised jobs are only done for "legal reasons" to make it look like they're hiring from outside, but in reality, they're just moving someone up the chain from within in a form of nepotism...
I learned from a pharmacist at Walgreens that it’s often something corporate does to scare the employees into thinking people are going to be replaced.
Also, there is sometimes bait and switch. They will offer you a lower ranked job, or offer you a job somewhere far away where they have an actual vacancy.
And they wonder why the workers don't want to work, when the employers don't want to employ...
The employers don't want to employ at a fair wage. They want to employ, but for well under that.
To be fair, that's how I got my job. I started in an internship, and demonstrated that I excelled at understanding humanitarian principles, learned all I could about Emergency Management, logistics, operations, etc. I ended up as remote staff, but damn, it wasn't free. 💜
If only they were honest about it though, external advertising despite knowing they're internally hiring is a waste of people's time and effort applying for such jobs, not to mention getting hopes up when those people are in need of those jobs...
Or they are only listing the job to meet union contract requirements of looking to fill the vacancies when they have no actual intention of hiring.
"I got a job erection" is what my mind processed. I might have a problem.
Perhaps we need a new "quiet quitting". We can call this one "ghost busting". Whenever you see a ghost job like this, report it as a scam and also tell as many people as you can that it's a scam, and hopefully only real jobs will remain on the job boards soon!
No means no!
Excellent!!!! Change your approach. Take back what you learned the first time. THIS could be the beginning of something new. Keep us posted!!!
Love the attitude but my thought is if they rejected me the first time & reposted it’s a game & definitely not a company want to work for.
I've seen that crap so much. It's so infuriating.
A friend did that, and ended up in her dream job after 10 months and 7 attempts.
I did that and got hired on the third application...
😂
Probably a zombie job listing.
😄
LOL! Should be hired for tenacity.
This happened repeatedly with a job I wanted. I started writing cover letters that were basically “come on, man! I’m the person you need and I stay at a job!”.
😂😂😂👏
NGL: I'm in this fight with a certain company that I *know* I'm qualified for. 10 rejections, and they've reposted the job every time. At some point, either they'll send me an actual email, or the universe will expire.
Bold of you to assume humanity will be around when the universe expires- Anyway, hope it works out somehow.
Same with me..like another poster in this thread I applied for a job that literally matched what my last job was (laid off). Got rejected. Thought about applying again but after seeing several posts I will now!
😂😬😂
Keep up the fight!
I got let go from a job. They said they just had too many people, and since I was hired last, I was the first to go. They said it had nothing to do with job performance. Since then, every time I saw that same job posted online, I reapplied. Never got a response. Fuck them.
I kept replying just for spite, so that if they ever did call me, I'd tell them to fuck off.
Show that ats who’s boss!
To paraphrase Groucho.. Would you WANT to work for someone that wouldn't hire you the first time??
😍
Probably not actually trying to fill the job, just putting it up so they can say they were trying to hire....
Well some jobs offers arent real....basically 3 reason for it...first we show our coworker we actively searching so do your jobs till we find one (when we are doing nothing).....second reason we show investor we are expanding (when we are not)....third lets collect data
George, you are a national treasure.
You go, kid!
