Once again, I feel the need to remind everyone that the MSM were telling us Doug Burgum was a reasonable and moderate alternative to Trump as a presidential candidate. There are no moderate (or maybe even sane) Republicans.

Even if, the GOP isn’t a party of even pretend moderates. Even so, I don’t think they are planning on a 28 or 26 for that matter.

Everything the GOP does is about appearance. We will have the "appearance" of an election in 2026 and 2028. All they are doing is working hard to make sure they can't be seen to have lost.

Yep. Russia and Iran have the appearance of an election. But considering the lack of impactful resistance to anything they are doing, they don’t really have an incentive to do anything even for appearances.
