I think you need to recalibrate your timeline. We stopped being empires 80 years ago. Are still calibrating, but currently ruZzia is the main culprit, with the USA firmly holding the 2nd position. With China 3rd.

Sorry yes I did phrase that loosely. Going off your millennia-wide time window Europe causes the most problems. Currently it’s the US followed by Europe together through neocolonialism.
