You can be arrested and fined. This is how you beat back autocracy. You show up, push back, and don’t let their intimidation tactics work.

Strength in numbers!
💯
The US will never be able to compete with Europe’s mass-protests, by design. I can’t help but think part of the reason we’ve so thoroughly rejected public transportation in 🇺🇸 is to limit large displays of dissidence. At least that’s how it works in effect.
We Outnumber Them ‼️
Always have, always will.
We do in America 🇺🇸 🏳️🌈 Too! If all the attacked and marginalized people All stood up al Once? 🥰 The Earth would tremble (in her Joy!)
Unfortunately, the ruling class has been successful in pitting marginalized groups against each other. Otherwise, you are 100% correct.
We need to find a way to get over that! This separation is a big part of what is seriously hampering our ability to to be effective.
Agreed 💯
Love that!
It needs every white person to get out there and say no. They need to use their privilege to help others that have so much more to loose.
We pretend we do it here. We might get 15 people on a street corner in the middle of nowhere, holding signs x 100000. But that is not the same as 1.5 million coming to DC and marching together. If it's not important enough to travel, to come together, the politicians know it's not that important.
I don’t have a thousand dollars to fly to DC, nor a week’s vacation to drive there and back. It isn’t the same. Hungarians can make a day trip to Budapest from almost anywhere in the country.
So how far are you willing to travel and how far have you traveled for a march? Phoenix?? L.A.?? Austin? Tell me how much out of your comfort zone is it worth? I traveled 6hrs with an overnight stay for the March-for-our-lives. I've sinced moved closer to DC. (Just happenstance)
It’s less about my comfort and more about my continued survival. If I take a week off with no vacation time, I will get evicted. I do not have anyone else I can rely on to pay my bills. I have protested here in Tucson, where I live, and where it is financially feasible for me to do so.
My previous reply did not suggest you take off a week, it asked what you're willing to do. You've answered that, Toucan or nothing.
Toucan?
How many time zones does Hungary have? The US has 9. 4 in just the contiguous states. Protesting here HAS to be different than protesting there. Because it is different. P.s. excellent work by the Hungarians
did you somehow not notice the massive No Kings protest where there were indeed millions of people in the streets across the country
I’m beginning to believe that’s the only way too.
We got 13 million people protesting the other day…
Have you ever lived in the middle of nowhere? I would argue that 15 people on a street corner in the middle of nowhere holding signs can be just as impactful as a massive crowd in DC. It takes a lot of courage to go against the grain and stand up. And, courage is contagious.
Our population sign says 269 😂
😂👍
When I was a kid, the population was under 1,000, and they claimed to have only one grouch. Progress.
Yes! Good job 😃 And if it happens in Every small town Every city 🥰! It would be a beautiful, awe inspiring thing to see.
Hungary is the size of Indiana. Why nobody takes into account the shear size of the United States. Sure I’ll just hop in my car and make the short 39.5 hour drive to DC
While i don’t disagree most protest are in metropolitan areas. Just get out in your area. There will likely be a time when we all have to come together and save this country. Right now we fight alone!
This. Conservatives must shit themselves when they see the size of protests in Utah
The good thing about a possible strike would be that no one would have to travel anywhere - no gasoline sold, no train trips,no bus fare,no takeout food,no shopping, no online purchases,no theaters,no restaurants etc. We CAN do it; we just have to decide to.
I am starting a #gasolinestrike today. Please join me or pass it on #MakeDemocracyGreatAgain
Yeah- a strike. National. I was thinking about this today too.
Yes ‼️ Get out in your own area. I saw many small communities that had impressive turnouts for No Kings. And if the No Kings folks, and the Pride community, and the Rights to Choice people, and the BLM & Immigrants Matter, and Unions, and so on - All got together 🥰
Tawas Michigan, which is nowhere, had about 100 or so for No Kings- and that’s Trump Country!
That's great, but don't you think it would be more impactful to drive the 2.5 and join a bigger protest in Detroit? And what if everyone from every small town made that effort to get to the nearest big city? What message do you think that would send?
Great job!
There would have never been anywhere close to even 100000 people there if there wouldn’t have been people going to Hungary from all over Europe. I know people who went, taking an overnight ferry then travelling across several countries for many days to go show solidarity and uphold human rights.
I mean the Boston pride event had over 1 million, so for him to say we “pretend “ to gather in solidarity is ridiculous. There was 10 million at all the No Kings protests. To say we don’t do anything here is just plain wrong. We don’t all need to travel to DC to make a difference.
Hungary has the population of the metropolitan area of Chicago, and Budapest that of Tampa. So, a similar march should be possible with just local participants in Chicago or Tampa. How does it look like over there?
There were protesters coming all the way from Ireland to Budapest today for example, people got on a ferry, then buses and trains and took them 24 hours to get there but they got there!!!
Amazing 💜
yeah, and Indiana has 3/4 the population of hungary so when will there be a 150k people protest in indiana
People did for war protests, MLK speech, a descent other Marches. Hop on a Grayhound.
Travel also cost reasonable amounts back then too
I mean no offense to you personally. My post has gotten a lot of feedback. Some supportive. A lot negative. I have yet to read one negative response that doesn't fall into "Excuse". It's too far, it's expensive, I can't take time off, etc. It all comes down to: it's just not that important.
Not everyone has the means to take off work and travel across the country so yeah it’s not as important as making sure my family has a home and is fed.
My poverty status begs to differ 😉
I went to No Kings. Im not hopping on a fucking greyhound for two weeks. Should I bring the kids and my 4 dogs on the greyhound or leave them home and let them starve to death? My point was, everyone tries to compare protests in other countries to here when it’s not apples to apples
See you there!
Yes! Definitely not unprecedented! Come on!
I don't believe that we need to travel. If half the people in every tow, every city stood up, where they are, and at once against the destruction of Civil rights we have already fought for and won!! It would blow minds 😉
I agree. It’s possible to protest across the country. No Kings protests were an example of that. It’s not based in reality to think people can just drop everything and travel across the country
Yes.
Yeah DC is where a lot of these laws are being passed but they're being enforced at the local level and we need the governors and Mayors across America to see that we will stand up.
Absolutely. Unfortunately marching on DC is not going to do anything to change a Republicans vote in the Senate and not many in the house. Have to battle on the state and local level with the ultimate goal of winning back the house and senate. State & Local can help protect people now
*town (typing too fast for my fat finger 😅)
Are you just completely addled by the logistics of "not everyone can just freely go to another state at any given time due to various factors"?
And do you think there are not 2 or 3 million (particularly on the east coast) who can but don't care enough to bother? They care enough to go to their local city hall, but anymore effort than that "nah, I'm busy"
My local city hall is where they're going to be employing the police that enforce the laws.
There were more No Kings protesters in Boston then in NY, LA or DC. I think the count was almost a million. This is a vast country, it's not plausible for many of us to travel and pay for multiple overnights. We make incredible noise when we protest all over this country.
There were none in DC as the organizers, wisely, didn't want to provoke Trump into using the military, who were there for his birthday parade.
Not true, the No Kings coalition chose not to protest in DC but other organizations did protest on June 14th in DC.
You do realize you said "not true," and then just repeated what I said. You said "coalition" where I said "organizers". It was a "No Kings" march, so what other groups did is meaningless to the conversation.
Incorrect.
Dear, you are clearly uninformed, unresearched and a mansplainer. All things that make your "argument" irrelevant. Do your research or continue to look ridiculous. It's your choice, but I'm no longer interested in what you have to say.
"America won't do anything." "America did a lot." "Nothing happened in DC." "Something did happen in DC." Fuck your semantics we all know what you're trying to say, that America won't mobilize. And you're wrong. It DOESN'T MATTER if it's under No Kings or any other banner. America is mobilizing.
You’re mistaken - our protests have been huge.
We had over five million people for No Kings. We need more. Too many people who oppose Trump are either too scared to protest, don’t want to make waves with friends/family that support Trump or decide they will be fine so are hunkering down. I literally know people like each of those.
In my case it's not deciding I will be fine. I literally cannot afford to go across the country and still expect to make rent and buy groceries. Many people want to shove aside reality and be like "if you REALLY cared, you would-"
Personally I mean protesting locally.
Yes. I totally agree. But we are so much stronger together ❤ Here in California it was really beautiful and inspiring to see the communities of L. A. stand up for their Latino members.
I’ve been to multiple protests this year. Agreed it is inspiring. Problem is it isn’t enough. It doesn’t seem to have made much difference. We protest, boycott, call elected officials, donate and volunteer. We NEED more people to do the same. What will it take? Sorry lots on plate personally too.
Agreed. The other thing organizers need to figure out is how to change the demographic makeup of the protestors. Having been to multiple, they skew older, white, educated, middle class.
Agreed. The last protest had more Hispanic protesters than previously. Most were young adults protesting because they were worried about their parents. Very few people 18-40 overall.
I have the same concerns.
So here's the thing: Republicans dismiss big protests in cities because Republican voters think people in cities aren't like them. But 100-200 people protesting in their own red state rural town or suburb? Seeing people they know? That's more likely to make an impact.
Yes! I don't think traveling to attend some massive protest is required to make a difference. If we all just Stood, where we are, and said NO! I believe it could be very impressive.
If we all just jumped up and down at the exact same time we could move the earth. Now, that would be impressive. [Note:snark]
There is great value in the people of small towns seeing their neighbors standing up and speaking out. And it takes me bravery.we need both. Right now we are still building. That takes the small towns
Let’s not pretend that “traveling” is the same here that it is in Hungary, this is Hungary overlayed on a map of the USA. It’s significantly smaller. The No Kings protest had 5 million people across the country, don’t belittle that.
It wasn’t enough to scare Republican politicians into doing their jobs. Americans don’t understand how to make them scared. They won’t figure it out in time.
Too polite at the wrong times! I hear a lot of, "The protesters are being so loud/violent/angry." and " The protesters are making it hard for people who havre to go to work/school/appta/run errands. " and "Those protesters are making things Worse(?🤔)! It's a sad state of affairs.
5 million out of 340 is 3.4 times less than 0.5 out of 10. And it's Orban's authoritarian rule for more than a decade already
No. That was beautiful. I was giddy looking at pictures from around the country. People came out that day- even in my little town! I realize that this work is hard, thankless, dangerous, exhausting, expensive (counting lost wages), sometimes far, and so many other valid reasons. But... ?
So don't travel. Synchronise. I've yet to see a US protest a fraction as determined and commited as even a trade union dispute in Europe. The US don't want their freedoms... that's the message everyone is getting. They are too idle to defend them, so really arent bothered about losing them.
💯 It doesn't matter if that sentiment is true or not. This is the message sent. I live 1/2hr out of Philly. There are local protests. Folks too lazy to go 30mins to the birthplace of our freedom to march, sends the message "it's not that important". (We have mass tran if you don't want to drive)
I believe that if people, for Any reason valid in their lives, are not able to travel to attend a mass demonstration- doing something local that works in their lives World be Amazing and make a solid impression coast to coast! Insisting on travel only limits who feels able to protest.
I don’t know why protesters don’t fill up the surrounding streets and neighborhoods of maralardo every damn weekend?
Nonsense
Yeah but that’s a 20 hour drive for me. You’re talking about a 4-5 day trip or plane tickets, hotels, food…. Not very accessible compared to organizing in your own community
Yeah, it's great that people gather in our far corner of Montana, but it's only noticed by local media and some good people on bluesky. A giant march somewhere would be the way to show we're not scared of Trump. But getting to DC is impossible for many of us, so ... it's a real puzzle!
Yes, if you can't get to DC that march locally. But we really need to get in one (or a few places) maybe DC, Chicago, LA, Austin Yes it's an effort. But as you say, a giant march shows we're not scared, also we're organized, and we're motivated.
We have a relatively small community here too, with an unholy dash of MAGA 🤮 so I was really happy with our turn out. We need to do better though.
If all these different marginalized groups could stand For Each Other- Stand together, at once and for All! Glorious. Undeturable. Civilly Unruleable! In fact, women outnumber the men in America. So why do we let them boss us, regulate us, and control an unjustified level of power in our society?
Because Lysistrata is only effective if EVERYONE works together and a good 25% (at MINIMUM) are a bunch of fucking pick-mes.
I was actually pretty happy with the recent No Kings turn out. But think what could happen, what we could accomplish, once we realize that all the fringe, small turn out, protests are Also No Kings (tells what to do, how to dress, who we can be, what races/religions/sexual orientations are legal.
As long as you're happy with the results, then ignore my suggestions.
Strategic alliances.
Yes ❤
The more people realize this and rally behind our common struggles against our common enemies, there would be no stopping us from seeing the changes we all would benefit from.
Yes! Yes! 🥳 Yes 👍!
That’s what right wingers fear, a united front. It’s why they fight like hell to divide people who have more in common than they might think
They are doing a great job of division if you read all the comments on two of my shares 😅😥
We were arrested and fined, publicly outed, for protesting and marching in San Francisco. Took a few beatings as well but one never stops hitting back.
This. Sure, a state *can* execute laws that require them to criminally process 5% of the population over the same event. But it can't do so and do anything else at the same time. Hatred is a time consuming job.
I will be there I’m still not sure this date is a good plan. But I will be there.
‘Independence Day’ certainly seems like a good date to take back your country from dictatorship. That big bully bill is coming next week, it’s then and every day thereafter imho.
Absolutely agree and as I said I will be there and at every one to come. I just think we have a very egocentric electorate that might want to party more than save our country. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t have a lot of faith in humanity.
Because revolutions aren't made by asking "may I, please?"
Really perfectly put. And it really is about “beating back”. The measure of winning and losing is being redefined.
They can arrest but can they arrest all of them?
This what Pride is all about
Sure but who's gonna arrest 200.000 people to fine them 20 Euro each?
Yes, they also use facial recognition
Okay but what sane country is gonna mass arrest 500,000 people? That’s like arresting 30% of the black population + other POC because they chose to march on the U.S. capitol for Equal Rights and Protections in 1963
That’s why there is strength in numbers
You can arrest a couple hundred over time, but half a million on instance is a whole other story That shows where the government stands on personal freedoms.
Meanwhile in the USA people are organising sending postcards.
That’s bc those of us in communities that are experienced resisters are too busy fighting off ice and for our fuckin lives. We need A LOT more people with privileges to step tf up and be willing to take the risks that come with civil disobedience and disruption. I’m not talkin witty signs either.
That’s a lie
not even doing that now? seriously , yes some people are protesting for short periods of time - that is not going to fix it though - you have to bring the country to a standstill , mass sustained protest and general strike or you live with a fascist dictatorship - your choice USA
In the US it will have to be every day.
So true valentine, we cant let intimidation tactics become part of our political life
👑
More of us than them, always. 💪🏻
Ngl if they tried to arrest everyone, the cells would be overfilled to the point of human rights violations. Not to mention the sheer cost of transporting half a million people..
Everyone needs to vote like they march. That's around the world. If we can march, we can march to the polls. Show up like this at the polls!!!
Orban’s authoritarian country of Hungary was your warning America. You didn’t listen, now America is Hungary.
Beautiful.
This is how you do it. Bravo
Good people of the world, unite!
That is amazing. Thanks for posting.
good shit hungary proud of you for not standing down to these chicken shit politicians
I🩵it…🤜🏼🤛🏼Go…Budapest👏🏼👏🏼
"Hungary's 'current but outgoing administration' banned anything that “promotes homosexuality,” There, I fixed it for you....
🌈
Love this so much.
That's where they have it wrong. Pride doesn't "promote" homosexuality. People are born that way. Pride promotes equality and equal treatment under the law.
👏❤️
I. LOVE. THIS.
I’m telling my government today to also fuck off for very different reasons. Happy Pride!
Wonderful. Don't let a gang of old men decide your future, Hungary.
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
It seems the people could topple the government, I don't see why they don't. I'm no expert in their matters...just know the gov sucks
My children, Mohammed and Haneen, dreamed of continuing their studies, but the war took away their education. Amid the bombing and danger, there is no hope of returning to school, and their dreams are fading. Where is the support? #Gaza #Students #Education www.gofundme.com/f/support-al...
Damn! Good job! Tired of these TERRIFIED hets! Think in all the great galaxies, cosmos stretching eternally there is just enough room 4 them— them only: IN ALL OF IT. FUCK THE FUCK OFF. Hey queers??? Flip the script! Ban ALL that “promotes Heteros”! Right? WHAT would we start with????? #BanHeteros
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvUL...
We need one in Washington like that ! Or two or three !!
Superb 👏🏻👏🏻
👍
I am just extremely happy that no-one tries to shoot in this crowd or try to get rid of those people by force. This is really great.
Amazing!😻
Civil disobedience. Our greatest weapon.
This is all left-wing propaganda. I am Hungarian and I know what the truth is. Many people don't like our government because it stands up for Hungarians. We have no migration, Hungary is safe and as everyone can see, you can march. Don't believe your lying propaganda.
When someone calls something "left-wing propaganda" its a sign that its not propaganda at all. Its the right trying to suppress those that hate authoritarianism.
Are you saying that the criminalization of LGBTQ+ doesn’t exist?
There is no religious or other discrimination. We are the safest country in Europe. The Left uses the gay community to stir up trouble. Nobody hurts gays here.
The country is quite literally targeting them with the pride ban + the "child protection law" dumbass. You can't claim "nobody hurts gays here" when the government is attempting to criminalise them
Math Geek calculates that with Hungary having a population of 9.63 million, 500,000 = 5.2% of the entire country. 🤓😎
Fucking beautiful. If Orbán wants to try and file charges against all the participants as he originally threatened (fines or jail time), he’s going to have to charge around 100 (as some estimated I read put it) European and EU officials - who he can’t afford to piss off - that marched.
Fantastic, now the EU do your job! Sort the Hungarian fascists out
Awesome!! Surely the government and and state media are spinning it as just more protests against the oaf.
Turn that tide, people! Fantastic!
You can ignore reality but you can never ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. 🏳️🌈A big FU to Orbán!🏳️⚧️
47 has studied Orban's rise to authoritarian power extensively. We should too. THIS is how a nation stands up to a would-be dictator. RESIST!!!
Yes 🙌🏻
Good for them!
Well done Hungarians!
Orban is about to meet the fifth horseman.
Hell yes! Gives me hope again for my origin country
Hungary is really popular in the right wing circles
Americans will never push back and the fascist Republican party WILL win. How do you conclude that? Assess..Every day in the US it gets worse in every single area. Personal freedom. Violence against the opposition party and citizens. Healthcare. Rule of law-equal rights, gone. The resistance failed.
The anti-LGBT will soon come to America, Americans better be prepared.
I think it’s going to get worse. They already stripped Harvey Milk’s name off a ship, and they removed the plaque for Stonewall, and references to LGBTQIA heroes…. Ultimately, they are coming after gay rights like marriage and adoption. I hate this regime so much. But like Hungary, we’ll fight!
Get ready.
It’s wild. It’s 💔 if we’re ever back in control, I would hope that we enshrine reproductive rights, civil rights, and equality for all people in our constitution…. But then, these criminals have pooped on the Constitution. I cannot imagine what the future holds.
Wish countries would start banning homophobia instead.
Keep going guys! 😀 If we can spike Viktor Orbán's blood pressure even higher we might give the faschy cunt a long overdue "szívroham".
Kudos to those 500,000 people!
But beware of the dictators.
this should be Democrats @ the Capitol & the Supreme Court & the White House....they work for us...
Yes!
Absolutely
Bravo!
One can never be more stupid than a conservative voter. Most conservative politicians aren't actual conservatives. They're the political equivalent of a televangelist.
The US is not that far behind Hungary. Matter of months before you see the same laws applied here.
Wishing the US people the best for sending their government the same message!
This is fucking awesome.
Beautiful! 🩷💙💚💛💜♥️
Oh that's Amazing!! What a turn out
👏👏
sweet
The movement caught the world on fire. #PowerToThePeople
This is so fucking awesome!
"Rise like Lions after slumber In unvanquishable number— Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you— Ye are many—they are few."
Viktor Orban is a Putin stooge, a Putin stand-in to bring Hungary back into the Russian fold. Putin hates gay people, and Putin hates democracy! How admirable to see such a huge turnout of Hungarians at Budapest Pride to rebuke Orban and his Kremlin master! Power to the people!
FUCK YES. fuck fascism ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
That's the funniest thing I have seen today ! Brilliant :)
It takes away my "right to be privileged", which I know isn't an actual right, but this is clearly how some people think. They can't enjoy what they have unless they know that it's denied to others. It's a sad but real part of human nature.
Budgets are divide further to fund increased equality so it can be seen as a Pie However increased equality increases the size and quality of said Pie
But it does promote that sex and gender diverse people are human and not inferior. You can't control a population if they're confident in themselves.
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️thank you to the brave Hungarians!!!🌈🌈
🔥🌈👏
Happy Pride 🏳️🌈
Banning Gay is like banning heterosexuality. How do you monitor it? Unless, everyone at the top is a flaming pervert. Oh wait!
Laws like these are always selectively enforced and in the end just a way to silence opposition and create a scapegoat. This hatred is not native to Hungary, Orban is importing Putin's doctrine and erasing Hungarian culture.
That many people could…oh, I dunno… maybe depose Orban while in town😎
Beautiful! Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ to the people of Hungary 🇭🇺! 🏳️🌈🇭🇺🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🇭🇺🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
👏🫶👏
Yay!
Wow weeee
Excellent work!!!!
Amazing 💕
What an uplifting sight to behold!
European nations are so much better at telling their governments to fuck off than we are here in the states.
They are a beacon of hope! Maybe they saw our No Kings protests🧌
That is real courage and dedication to freedom.
Awesome
www.cbc.ca/news/world/p...
There is power in democracy, held by the people. They should have marched on the government and taken their country back.
Hungary has less than 10 m in population. Can we see 5% of Americans in the streets.
🌈
I am straight as a fucking line, but I'm punching all the air with joy at this news. That is one giant middle finger to their leader. Love is love.
Show up. It's that simple.
Half a million! That should send a strong message to autocrats that no one gives a shit what they don't want anyone doing...
💙
F around and find out Hungary.
🥰😍🫶😍🥰
That's people power ✌️
Orbán should f**k off to his daddy in the Kremlin.
I have questions… what exactly ‘promotes homosexuality’? If they ban ‘pride’, what will they call a family of lions? Do they have scientists working away trying to figure out how to eliminate rainbows?
If they are using Russian definition (and they are), "promoting" here means "saying anything neutral, or positive, about the subject". Which means banning all speech about queerness -except- hatespeech. Which is the case in Russia.
It's an attempt to silence and separate. They try the same tactics as the orange turd.
As a mom to a gay son. This warms my heart so much. My biggest fear is for people not accepting who he is, and attack him. Or discriminate him. The fear of getting THAT call. You know the one from the hospital.
Big up mama and here is your another facing discrimination in Africa, south Sudan in particular 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️❤️🏳️🌈
Tear the Fascists Down
USA needs to do the same!!!!
Now that’s what a rally should look like! 🤩
Actually, they told the tyrant leader to fuck off. 🤔
Power to the people.
What is the source of the photos? I want to repost, but want to be sure.
it was closer to 100,000 according to the news
💗💗🌈💗💗
I love seeing this. Hopefully it is the beginning of a movement that not only celebrates diversity and inclusion, but leads to the toppling of Orban.
This such a fantastic result!! Massive middle finger to Putin-Trump regime!!
As a Hungarian, YEAHHH FUCK HUNGARY, FUCK THE GOVERNMENT AND LEADERS, I’m proudly and loudly queer!!
Bless you.
What is the population of Hungry?
LOL
This is about 5.2% of the population. Relatively impressive.
♥️🧡💛💚💙💜
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Wow. That is resistance
❤️💪❤️💪❤️💪
That is what We the People need to do! NOW!!! STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK!!! I We the People love our country, SHOUT IT OUT!!! PEOPLE POWER!!!
Now the Hungarians should ban Orban.
🇭🇺 Rhapsody🇭🇺
Good for them. 🫶
Things like this restore a bit of my faith in humanity.
That’s how it’s done 🥹
Brilliant. Well done to all those people.x
#FuckYeah
To be expected
Orbán is done. If he retaliates, he'll force the UE to take measures. If he doesn't, he'll become a joke, a death knell for any autocrat.
Fight the Borg. Resistance is not futile.
🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Incredible!!
Hungary's population is only about 9.7 million. If half a million showed up to tell Orban to F**k off... well, that is way over the 3.5% threshold that political scientists suggest will likely lead to downfall of the gov't. Keep pushing. www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/carr...
Literally every campaign refrenced in that is a sustained campaign. This is fantastic, but one time demonstrates don't topple regimes.
That's why I said "keep pushing." Turn the one-time demonstration into a sustained effort. The vast majority of the people of Hungary don't Orban.
A relatively big part of the people were from other european countries, people went to make it safer for Hungarians with facial recognition being used and to show solidarity + because what happens in one part of Europe can happen anywhere.
The mayor of Amsterdam was there!
This is wonderful and a great example of Nonviolent Direct Action. Lawful humane Hungarians know they may pay a price, but they are determined to protest unjust laws. Courage in action. Hopefully the USA will continue to beat back the drums of hatred and autocracy in greater and greater numbers.
Cool Happy Pride!
Beautiful
Fuck yes, my wife is a proud proud proud Hungarian and I fucking love her xxx
That’s the sort of showing we’ll need here, multi/city.
Get his ass (Orbán's)
I love that old city, so exciting!

♥️
Wish we could get a turnout like that in the US they would push for marshal law, troops would be called & we would be GITMO bound but maybe not. I know on thing for sure with that many people there are people in that crowd that are police & military or former military, by the number %
#DeathtoTheocracy
If only Americans cared that much....
👏👏👏
Over estimating crowd size just makes us a target for exaggerating. A high end estimate of the bridge crowd only is about 20,000 people. That’s A LOT and an amazing turn out but far from 500k.
This is just one picture. The whole marching column was over 2 kilometers long. This picture was easy to take, because there is a hill that overlooks the bridge. But this is just one section of the whole marching crowd.
Even Reuters says 100k at most and that it couldn’t be verified. 500k is a huge exaggeration.

Beautiful!
Knowing Hungary and its language, they probably have a very eloquent and poetic way of telling the government to fuck off. It is probably beautiful translated but utterly incomprehensible to anyone more than 200 miles away :)
i do love it when large groups of people tell the government to fuck off.
✨Man... I wish we had this kind of turnout at any and all of our protests against the trump regime! What could the cops, Ice, the National guard for the military do? Answer: Not a fuckin thang!🤛
roll over you with a tank .. shot at you.. throw hand grenades. all done before.
Love is love
This picture is the coolest! Is it real?
Yes. We often have the opera house bathed in relevant colours. Here’s some of them. Enjoy 🤗
Thanks. Awesome!

Thanks!

Bullies do run when you run at them. The smoke is scary but there is nothing but a trembling fool behind it
Hungary…you are my heroes! AMAZING!!!
Thank you!
Tearing up again.

Csodálatos látvány és még nagyszerübb részvételi arány, büszke vagyok mindenkire és azok is legyenek magukra, akik részt vettek rajta! Minden magyar Pride ilyen legyen mostantól! A szeretet mindig erösebb a gyülöletnél! 🏳️🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🏳️⚧️🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵
Pride doesn't 'promote' homosexuality. Pride is a protest against homophobia + a celebration of love.

I literally just got chills.
Max 200'000. Which is awesome too. Why lie about numbers?
Well Steve Miller can cross of Hungary for his sugar daddy trip with Barron

Hungary is a wonderful country, full of wonderful people. I only ever met a slighty grumpy taxi driver when I was there last. EVERYONE else could not have been nicer and I'm looking forward to going back! Hungary deserve so much better.
Orban is a fascist Nazi.
Happy Pride to everyone in Hungary. And keep the fight alive.
It would be awesome if they got rid of Orban...that could set off alot of change throughout the world.
I'm getting really fucking tired of the Dictators in this world.
Beautiful! 🌈⚡
🫶💯💪🌈🌈🌈🌈
That's astonishing. I hope they have the momentum to get rid of Orban
Only functional democracies respond to the needs & demands of the people.
How amazing. People are so hungry to give love and acceptance and negate hatred and small mindedness, and they show it. Leaders-- LISTEN!
Amazing!!!
👏👏
🖕🏻Orban
Does "anything" included lesbian porn? I'm just asking, because never ever any right-wing ever jerked off to lesbian porn.
One of the men behind these laws is this dude who got caught escaping a gay orgy during covid lockdown so they do way more than jerk off to lesbian porn... (but yes, it's included) www.brusselstimes.com/144182/bruss...
I guess you can't ban gayness without people noticing. 🏳️🌈
That's how you celebrate Pride.
and then they came for me.. “A number of groups were targeted as enemies or outsiders. …Jews, Roma ® (Gypsies), homosexuals, and political dissidents. Also … Germans viewed as genetically inferior & harmful to "national health," … people with mental illness & intellectual or physical disabilities.”
This is incredible
I’m an introvert and get a little claustrophobic in crowds but I gotta say- that looks like a great place to be!
I mean wow.😯😭
Considering how much further down the primrose path of authoritarianism Hungary is, this gives me hope.
I hope we all have the guts the people of Hungary have. We’re going to need it, plus a lot more.
👀
To me, the message is that it’s never over. Our struggle continues even when they take over. Resistance will become a way of life.
We need to do this everywhere!
Wow, that's absolutely huge - 5% of Hungary's population.
Most news outlets report that it's closer to 100,000, but that's still an astounding turnout.
I mean. How do you even count it lmao. There were so many people especially for us
And a reminder that the hatred Orban is pushing, isn't native to Hungary. He is pushing Putin's doctrine. He is a traitor to Hungary and it's people.
Bud. Imagine if the US’ 5% turned up to a singlular protest or ceremony at the same time.
I think it'll be higher than 5% in America.
From a magat female who believes trump just solved the mid east problem .
