Yeah, I am your age. I remember traveling in the early 60s and seeing White's Only signs. Then Kennedy got shot, the Vietnam War, riots, MLK shot, JFK shot, more Vietnam. Best music ever because of the above. People remember the music but a lot of riots, war and assassinations made the music.
JFK should be RFK. I had already covered One Kennedy.
I had to correct my kids misinterpretations of the music. We went on vacation to DC the summer after Kennedy was killed. I saw his grave when it was still mostly dirt and surrounded by a white picket fence and armed soldiers. Took my kids years later to see the beauty today.
