Has any church in the past 75 years been sanctioned for political endorsements? If so, it must have been for endorsing a Democratic candidate. The corporate megachurches where I live do it all the time with absolute impunity.
Churches make over $70 Billion annually. Wouldn't Jesus want Church money taxed and used to help society not helping the wealthy TV Evengelists???
But 'The times they have changed' to paraphrase a 60s prophet. So, tons of us don't necessarily do what the 'church' wants us to do. So, they can endorse who the 'hell' they want.

The prohibition has been in place for many years but it is up to the IRS to enforce. Allowed and lawful are two different things.
Somebody is BS-ing. IRS regulations prohibit 501(c)(3) organizations from contributing to political campaigns. They are generally barred from direct or indirect involvement in any political campaign supporting or opposing candidates for elected public office at any level (federal, state, or local).
The churches that have long been endorsing will keep endorsing. Churches not endorsing will continue not endorsing. Only one of these is a church.
