Elevate Utah @elevateutahpac.bsky.social

The IRS just told churches they can endorse political candidates without losing their tax-exempt status. To most of the country, that’s news. In Utah? That’s just another Monday. The church and state are back together, again. open.substack.com/pub/elevatep...

Has any church in the past 75 years been sanctioned for political endorsements? If so, it must have been for endorsing a Democratic candidate. The corporate megachurches where I live do it all the time with absolute impunity.

Churches make over $70 Billion annually. Wouldn't Jesus want Church money taxed and used to help society not helping the wealthy TV Evengelists???

But 'The times they have changed' to paraphrase a 60s prophet. So, tons of us don't necessarily do what the 'church' wants us to do. So, they can endorse who the 'hell' they want.

Mormons used to have more than one wife. Joseph Smith started a lot of that.

The prohibition has been in place for many years but it is up to the IRS to enforce. Allowed and lawful are two different things.

Somebody is BS-ing. IRS regulations prohibit 501(c)(3) organizations from contributing to political campaigns. They are generally barred from direct or indirect involvement in any political campaign supporting or opposing candidates for elected public office at any level (federal, state, or local).

The churches that have long been endorsing will keep endorsing. Churches not endorsing will continue not endorsing. Only one of these is a church.

I can assure you it was always an illusion. The U.S. corporations, now Multinationals, used missionaries from the very beginning to introduce US corporations to all of South America. That is how we ended up owning all the bananas and colonizing all of South America

George Washington and crew led a revolution to escape the church of England. Right wing Nazis have no clue as to why we fought for separation of church and state. And they claim to be Americans? HA! Pathetic. Any true-blue red-blooded American can see right through them from a light year away.
