I played the first one co op for a bit at a friend's house and I was just... Even removing the tone and aesthetic stuff it's still just a Type Of Game that is actively disinteresting to me I guess lol. Like turning it off and looking at a blank screen was a relief.

I can respect that, playing it alone I didn't like it for its half rpg half shooter thing, but for a coop game you can just play and talk I had good times with it

Near as I can tell, Destiny was just a Skype call with dopamine drips for a lot of people. That sounds dystopic but there's something to be said for a version of turn off your brain and pop some alien heads for a while that also includes hangin with the homies! that's valid

absolutely, also I do have appreciation for games that still had/have split screen from the 360 gen onwards, the lack of it in other games bothered me A LOT during that gen

Dude I just want to be able to play games with my kids on the couch, ya know? We can basically only do that with old games because it's so rare in new ones, even in cases where it wouldn't be a hardware or budgetary limitation. Oh well.

One thing I appreciate about Nintendo is that they seem like they try to find a way to fit in a second local player to many of their games, even asymmetrically. My son is obsessed with Pikmin 4 right now and it lets a second player shoot pebbles at things with a little crosshair and drop items

absolutely agreed, the Lego games are one of the few outside of Nintendo that seem to keep that too, a local coop game will always be higher in my list for sure

People got so unnecessarily bothered about Galaxy having a 2p mode where they just hurl stuff at the screen when it's clearly just a fun thing for a young sibling. I bet Miyamoto/Nintendo saw Sonic 2's *tails is just there default mode* and realised how brilliant that was for actual kids.

absolutely, also the galaxy mode is pretty good for a parent to kinda help a kid play but not too much , they were smart with that

It's a great approach and it's really good for a halfway point where it really isn't worthwhile online but it's great local for a variety of possible cases.

Oh yeah I thought it was a great touch. Even for just anyone. I was in college when Galaxy came out and we were all excited for it and my roommate who had the Wii got it and we were all hyped there was a way for more than one person to be involved cuz we were all trading off and watching anyway
