Democrats have lost big on this issue. Open borders is not a viable strategy
Yes, but republicans are winning big on the fascist dictator vs democracy strategy.
because americans are contradictory/hypocritical schizophrenics who seem to want x but hate when you do x and also only put him in office because THINGS BE EXPENSIVE YO. America probably would have been fine with deportations if Trump just kept doing what Biden was doing and made it more visible.
Possibly. Again prominent dems are shouting about deportations and are on the wrong side of the issue. Average Americans want strong and decisive action on this issue which trump is giving them, but democrats are opposing
You say this, and yet we've got polls coming out showing that Americans are not, in fact, happy with how he's handling even this moment when it comes to immigration. Americans want strong and decisive action... until someone actually does it. Then they don't want it. Nothing new!
We all know how accurate polls are!
I mean, polls are in fact generally accurate lol. Just because some miss doesn't mean they aren't accurate. Believe me, I looked into this because it annoyed me! General average is being accurate 7 times out of 10!
Strongly recommend you check out what we're actually saying, thread here -
Wow the strategy no one ever actually did is not viable?
Are they still going to widely vote to increase police/ICE funding at every chance? If so, nothing they say matters
Also how damn cynical is it that they need to survey the crowd to have a stance on this issue 🤦🏻♀️
We totally agree, but hope this is one step towards pressuring them to quit doing that. And we also agree they for damn sure shouldn't need a poll, but sadly this is how it works. (and it is true that they should generally understand and listen to voters)
Essentially, don't focus on the protesters, focus on him deporting people who haven't otherwise committed a crime and the deportation of people here legally (residents and US citizens alike).
Or the Dems can just stand for something. Like don’t disappear our neighbors and leave them alone?
And I didn’t even ask for money. Free campaign advice. 🤷🏽♀️
Now whether they actually do it...
When my fellow Democrats bashed the recent group of South African refugees for being “White and the descendants of the people responsible for apartheid” that was the last of many straws for me, as a staunch Liberal Democrat and progressive with a small “p.” Democrats have betrayed their own values.
Great job on this story - lots more information on the poll, including an interview with the head of the firm that ran it in this thread:
Is the blueprint to accurately describe the unlawful and immoral behavior of Trump and ICE to the public?
I don’t approve of what he’s doing or how he’s doing it, but is it unlawful when Eisenhower and JFK did the same thing?
Both Ike and JFK called in the national guard to protect black students during desegregation. Trump called on them to protect his goons. There is a bit of a difference there. The only people who believe that L.A. is on fire are people who don't live there.
Who said anything about LA being “on fire”? Any more straw men you want to trot out
Your president. I didn't trot it out.
Trump did. Calling what's happening in L.A. an insurrection is a straw man.
Define “goons.”
I was referring to ICE.
Interesting usage. I would say the Merriam-Webster definition applies better to the fringe-Left in this country: “noun 1: a stupid person 2 a : a man hired to terrorize or eliminate opponents b : ENFORCER sense 2b [2 b : a player (as in ice hockey) known for rough play and fighting]
I guess it comes down to POV, doesn't it?
Well, from out here, neither one of you look good. The difference is one of group is working under orders; the other are just anarchists acting out like toddlers overdue for a nap. And the Governor and Mayor are just too feckless to enforce the law or curb the riots.
Define riots.
2/ • blocking traffic on streets and highways so ambulances, fire engines, and rescue vehicles can’t get through • engaging in hand-to-hand combat with law enforcement officers responding • overwhelming the police e.g. the January 6th Capitol riot, the Rodney King riots, etc, etc.
I can give you examples: • setting fire to a row of EVs not only destroying valuable property but creating a public safety risk if the lithium batteries explode • throwing heavy objects from highway overpasses onto people and stalled traffic below, which recklessly endangering human life
Buy a dictionary.
Take your advice. I have several dictionaries. None of their definitions apply to the National Guard.
Other presidents have also broken the law in the past, yes. Everyone physically present within the borders of the US has a legal right to due process.
“Broken the law”? It’s the foremost responsibility of every president and every sworn public official to “defend the nation from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.” If you’re not an enemy of the US, stop acting like it.
Who's supposedly acting like an enemy of the US? What does anyone's behavior have to do with the fact that everyone within the US has a right to due process and Trump is illegally denying people their due process?
Everyone participating in the riot, which all of America and the entire world (including our worst enemies) can see with their own eyes. Don’t bother gaslighting. We know a riot when we see one; we’ve been through them before.
What does that have to do with Trump breaking the law? Other than a riot is the most predictable public reaction to the government and law enforcement openly flouting the law.
grow a effing pair!!
would probably help if ya defined what ya think them growing a pair would be.
