Behind this is as long as t is president, and maybe longer, the US cannot be trusted to live up to their NATO obligations. I think Europe understands now that they have to look to themselves for their own defense. T can object to the inclusion of Ukraine all he wants, but it will eventually happen.

Each country have one vote and all must agree.
NATO membership runs through the USA. Trump Can block it. The next president could permit Ukraine to join.
Ukraine 🇺🇦 will be a part of NATO as it has aligned itself with Western Europe. They are bearing the pain of war with Russia as their admittance. When Trump is gone, the US will welcome Ukraine into NATO.
The US administration is temporary, Europe is the cradle of our civilization, and we will remain so.
The "irreversible path for Ukraine" is a legacy of NATO's former Secretary General Stoltenberg, and is not a topic at today's meeting, and thus still valid, but in practice Trump has closed the path for Ukraine anyway as long as the orange clown is president.
Trump's opinion on anything is of no value to anyone. He's a Russian supporter and best ignored.
You have to ask the question, why wouldn’t America want a stronger, safer, more unified Europe? America would, but not Trump. And MAGA cries ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ because every major policy matter can be defined like a cheap advertising byline.
