He ignored his own intelligence agencies. The CIA themselves said Iran wasn't pursuing nukes and had abandoned the idea favor of other defense strategies. Additionally, bombing them doesn't remove the knowledge of how to build these weapons, it just antagonizes them into thinking they need 'em more.
