NEW: The FBI has agreed to help chase down quorum-breaking Texas Democrats. The Democrats departed the state in an attempt to thwart the Texas Legislature’s passage of a newly redrawn congressional map that would grant the GOP five more favorable districts ahead of the 2026 midterms.

I would bet that Texas has somewhere a law making it illegal to disrupt governmental proceedings. This is similar to the law used against the Jan 6 rioters and/or patriots. This would give the FBI the basis for arresting democratic Texas legislators when found and then extraditing them back to Texas

More bullshit. They already know where they are. Texas state troopers can't arrest Texas House representatives outside the state. Bringing in the FBI is a sketchy attempt to circumvent the law. If the FBI does start arresting TX democratic reps, we'll have a constitutional crisis on our hands.

If the Republicans truly want votes and related representation based on "there's more of us than them", let's open this up to strike down the Electoral College idiocy, where the "more of us than them" argument provides a true, accurate, complete, and correct barometer of the will of the people.

The president claims that he's "entitled" to five more seats because he won the state by a wide margin. (The largest since GWB— NOT in history.) The Texas GOP already holds twice as many US House seats as Texas Democrats yet no one has ever carried the state by a two to one margin. I call BS.

I thought people were mad that candidates were selected behind the scenes with little or no input by voters. This goes way beyond that. Not only are the powers selecting on who’s been bought or sold by high tech bros, now they redistrict your vote out of existence.

Tbey have no authority in a state matter. The FBI cannot touch any of those Texas reps. If they do, each Texas tep has a cause of action against each FBI member that touched them. Same applies to ICE/Homeland Security. Tbey have zero jurisdiction in state matters.

Quorum-breaking is legal in the state, which lawmakers and experts have highlighted. So on what grounds have the FBI to arrest anybody? Just because cosplaying FBI Director Patel says do it, could this see field agents refusing to act illegally?

Texas lawmakers say that they’re entitled to more congressional seats because there’s more of them than everybody else in the state and that reflects Texas real majority and real people. Let’s redistrict every single blue state to show the will of the nation!

Redistricting is a constitutionally driven product of the 10 year census. Both parties do it legitimately favoring themselves. Problem is, after the dust settles you just can’t redraw the lines. Personally, I think it’s out of control, but we can’t vote where the outcome are pre-drawn.
