In normal times I agree. However, these are not normal times. Ds need to coalesce early, pool their resources, and get Ds elected. Not the time for business as usual, that’s how we got here.

I agree primaries are good. And Maine has ranked choice voting. This guy ought to be eliminated easily enough in round one because he literally stands for nothing. Hopefully that sends a message to other people who want to represent AIPAC more than Americans.

My only concern is that primaries split resources that should be stockpiled for the actual election cycle. I am in the hellscape that is TX so don’t know about RCV but I bet it’s a better system that what we have that keeps reelecting monsters.

I think it’s a way to allow third parties a better shot by allowing voters to select the candidate they really want first knowing that vote won’t be wasted in the next round if the candidate loses the first round.

I had the good fortune to live one winter right down the street from Maine Beer Company in Freeport. Great brewery and it’s run with strong ethos. Does that equate to being ready to be a Senator? Time will tell.
