This is my question. The back of the hand on a geriatric patient is a last resort. He doesn't have anyone that can put that in the ac where it would be hidden better?

Guys like him who are a bit chubby can be awfully difficult to find veins on. Source: I am a bit chubby (not as bad as him though) and the last time I needed blood taken out they had to use an ultrasound machine to find my arm vein
