Ooo yeah!!
Ooo yeah!!
As much as I love Trek, paramount can go fuck themselves for canceling Colbert.
Akiva Goldsman is where good story telling goes to die.
Now, now ... no need to be mean.
They’ve had some good ones. “A Quality of Mercy” was excellent, for example.
Yes. Season one is generally considered the best season which speaks to my point in that Goldsman was working on Picard and far less involved. Once his attention returned the show there is an immediate quality drop off. My opinion on AG is fairly widely held among fans of sci-fi tv.
You can also see the vast improvement in Picard when he was removed as showrunner in favor of Tony Matalas
Funnily enough I'm just about to re-read the last few chapters of Storming Heaven
I would love that
I mean... they already have a CGI Watchtower class asset from the TOS remaster....
Plus the SNW sets, costumes, hero props, CGI wireframes, staff, crew, soundstages, etc. All of which they say inspired their pitch. That's smart — amortize capital expenses across more episodes. But a TOS remake/reboot is a no-win scenario. Vanguard would have all the pros, none of the baggage.
And *I'd* want those TOS characters available for a "Between TMP and TWOK/Second Five-Year Mission" series.
Peck and Wesley are playing characters 15 years younger than they are now. I also think a TMP-era series, absent the pajamas, is the way to go with those actors.
@diane.dianeduane.com you had some thoughts on what I consider possible post-TMP, pre-TWOK fleet duty uniforms in "The Wounded Sky" that I recall liking.
As a Trek fan I would welcome a TOS era series that follows the crew of a smaller ship. Occasionally meeting other starship crews and regularly making port at far-flung space stations sounds compelling too.
PSKY deserves only garbage. All good ideas should go elsewhere.
I’m a big Trekkie that goes back to the original tv show but sorry, I’m done with Paramount. I’ll watch my Star Trek on DVD.
Is ask them first to not bow down to a dictator.
A live-action VANGUARD series would be the coolest thing ever.
Of course it would. If we act fast, maybe we can lock down Pedro Pascal as Diego Reyes. Pascal, like, Reyes, is of Chilean ancestry....
Yes, a pity that Tommie Lee Jones is too old. A lot of your actor templates could still be in play, though.
I’d be open to rethinking a lot of the casting ideas to make its cast more diverse (at the risk of incurring the wrath of the government).
I really like Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga, although with the latter already appearing on the Enterprise in SNW, his character arc would be somewhat different in live action than in your novels.
Not necessarily. His character is Joseph M'Benga. The Vanguard character is his younger cousin Jabilo M'Benga, who idolizes him so much he followed his footsteps into medicine and even Vulcan physiology as a specialty — but without the Klingon War background. Continuity preserved.
(Sam McCloud voice) There ya go!
The most Gene Roddenberry thing we could do is write to Paramount & Skydance to demand they stop censoring programming and capitulating to a dictator.
I really enjoyed the Vanguard series, and the Seekers spin off was wonderful. I wanted more than just the 4 books of those 2 ships.
As did we. Alas, fate had other plans.
Bloody fate.
Isn't that what Enterprise was?
That was more Starfleet: Year One.
Nothing from Paramount id remotely Star Trek anymore. On top of that, I am tired of the series inability to mive forward. Also, Akiva Goldsman is a hack.
Howz 'bout writing them to rehire Colbert, keep the Daily Show, and not have a resident Trump censor. Then get your f'in space western. And I'm a trekkie!
Wasn't Enterprise Star Trek: Year One? Or Strange New Worlds? Are the events leading up to Kirk sitting in the captain's chair basically like Bruce Wayne's parents getting shot?
Maybe they would greenlight an audio drama like Khan?
It wouldn't work as audio. It depends on a number of visuals, and it's also too long a narrative (the sage runs 9 books).
You know better than anyone, and as a slow reader I'm only at book 3. I had imagined a good narrator would be able to paint these pictures in my head - but of course seeing it on screen would be a blast.
Can someone please summarize what Star Trek Vanguard is, and what it’s about? Never heard of it, but love Trek. What am I missing? 🖖
This should answer your questions: memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Tr...
Thanks very much. Will check it out 👍🏻
A good reminder for me to write Paramount and Skydance ask them to go “NO FUCKING WAY” on a “Star Trek: Year One” series.
Didn't they already do Star Trek: Year One and wasn't it called Star Trek: Enterprise???
I agree as I’m tired of Star Trek prequels, to be honest 😐
