It isn’t difficult or surprising for a Democrat (of whatever stripe) to stand with their friends and denounce Trump. But for a public conservative, it’s a huge leap that means a break with long-time friends and allies. That isn’t easy to do. But doing so anyway means a real commitment to democracy.
