My brother took his drone out to the old farm, the road is blocked off but he flew over our old place. It's gone, ALL of it. Just trees and ground and weeds. They tore down the houses... I know where things should be, I spent the first quarter century of my life in that 100 yard circle of ground.

But now... Nothing but what trees survived whatever demolition crew tore out all the house and foundations and the rest that should be there...

I mean, I hadn't been there in 12 years since my dad died... But shit... I guess I expected more than a half dozen trees...

Gosh, I'm sorry the place you once knew is gone now.

Thanks man, I mean, nobody has lived there in about 10 years. It's -farmland- basically... But I can't expect it to remain like memories forever

Sadly true. My dad took pictures of his childhood home after he fully cleaned it out and sold it to a nice family with a kid on the way.

There’s an old line in a story that goes “You can never really go home again, once you leave…” - and it became oldly true when we sold our family home after our parents past away…

Part of me is "Well, I mean, I wasn't planning on moving back..." but its like, whoever "cleaned up" was thorough.. or had ten years to do it. NOTHING is there, the sidewalk stones are gone, or overgrown, the cement slab for the shed? The basement and foundation, the fences, even the power line

Unless you KNEW what you were looking at, it's a stand of trees with an overgrown dirt trail near by. But -I- know that tree was one corner, those ones there were where the gate was, I used to climb THAT one... My first 24 years were in that space. now its gone. Not even a broken cement slab.
