So my fiance and her kids just lost their vacation because American couldn’t get them anywhere near their destination in the next day. Every flight we’ve taken for months has been late. The airlines are completely flailing and the FAA is covering it up. You guys having the same experience?

Alaska Airlines had a full ground stop situation due to a failure of their IT systems. The first explanation they put forward didn't make sense, now they're saying "cause unknown". They're normally very reliable.

There are key people in IT departments who don’t seem to do much from an external perspective. They fix things before they break, or deal with the really tricky tickets that flag issues in the system. But if you look at their ‘productivity’ it is way lower than others running through the easy stuff

I've mostly worked in startup companies where IT positions are typically called Systems Admins, DB Admins and DevOps so I haven't experienced the types of IT processes used in legacy corporations. I've heard it's heavily process oriented.

I am reading this as my last leg of my trip home, the flight was delayed for over an hour waiting to cobble together a flight crew. We had the pilot, but not stewards. Happens to be American Airlines. Just about to take off as my flight should have been landing at home.

We had delays at both ends of a recent trip on Delta - not bad, and nothing to complain about. But flight delays and planes out of position were the causes. It does seem that there is more moderate turbulence this summer - clear air and moderate clouds.

2 hour delay ORD to PHL because replacement airplane was coming from the “hangar.” Then 20 hour delay PHL to Paris CDG, airplane in “hangar” & but we boarded altimeter was broken. Waited at gate until 3:30 am before flight delayed until next evening. Fun fact — try to find a hotel at PHL at 4 am!

YES!! @unitedairlines.bsky.social screwed us on our connection to London in Denver. They then lost our luggage, which they had 26 hours to get on the correct plane, but didn’t. We then spent 3 days wearing the same clothes as they couldn’t seem to deliver our bags to the correct address. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Yes, I flew to the East Coast last week and returned a few days later. Every flight was delayed or canceled. At the CLT airport, I heard a crew member telling a fellow crew member that he had only been on five(5) on-time flights in the last two months as they deplaned from a late-arriving flight.

Delta is really bad compared to what it was years ago. Every Delta flight I have been on in last two years has been on a 30+ year old airplane. They fly too many old worn out 3rd world airplanes. Only a matter of time before something bad happens.

Of course you're going to hear about all the problems people have had lol. It's probably still very safe, but look at trends for delays and cancelations at different airports and during peak travel. Also, WEATHER. international travel is anyone's guess. Be safe all.

I flew to NY in June, and on the return trip, our plane got in a few minutes late, and then we were sitting on the tarmac for an hour at least. Watching other planes sort of skip the (long) line as they came out of their gates and we were queued off to the side. It was bizarre.
