Airport police are routinely armed and have been for decades. Journalists, who fly far more frequently than I do, should have noticed that. If they haven't it suggests a lack of curiosity which is a bit of a drawback in their chosen profession.

I don’t approve of violence, but I saw the tweet and it was not literal incident. Now obviously everyone can twist things how they see fit but there is nuance in language and I don’t think you’d be guaranteed to convince a judge that it was a literal incite to violence.. I don’t believe it was

There's also his years-long abusive campaign against trans people and his other pending court case demonstrating a pattern of behaviour. There is nothing nuanced about "punch [him] in the balls." That non-trans people think this is no big deal is part of the problem.

I was unfortunate enough to hear the recording Linehan made of his arrest. The level of rage is terrifying (especially as the police where in "Would you come with us please sir?" mode rather than "DOWN ON THE FLOOR, NOW!!" mode). I think he is actually dangerous in real life and online.

Yup. So is the fact their were five of them. They anticipated he might react, which he did, and airports aren't places they want scuffles breaking out. They'd have all been at the airport anyway. They didn't send five officers in two cars to his house.
