Again, so what? All she did was report about the existence of the program and what's happened so far, how that process compares to what the GOP has done to build their network, and the pitfalls the DNC and some of these creates have run into so far. That's just reporting!

It is bad when journalists do not tell the truth. Are we children? Are we five years old? Is that why we need to state this explicitly for it to make sense?

The Lorenz defenders are getting increasingly bizarre with their defenses.

And people defended her for so long with the argument her “main byline” was her substack. But mainstream, respectable journalists have been platforming her for a while! And now she’s in Wired! It’s good we, as the public, caught this! But we can’t every time! They shouldn’t be platforming her!

All of my research is about fake information becoming entrenched because people let other people lie for profit or attention (or both). That’s *just* in lace, a niche thing you are probably most familiar with in your grandmother’s curtains. Now extrapolate that to every subject, ever, and weep.

It used to be a major industry (and by major I mean, like, every fast food franchise combined with a bunch of fancy car companies), and now there’s clout in protecting the mythmaking while occasionally dripfeeding the public with “novel” discoveries. Think Hollywood but fabric.

I didn't realize there would be so much toxicity on something like that. But I guess that's the point... Our media environment is so messed up. It's easy to think that something is real when people want to be entertained by lies instead of learning about real things.

Exactly, but it’s not hard to find if you’re looking either (well, for now…). They’re doing it out in the open, it’s just easy to miss because it sounds right. You’re right. Ex: I’ve seen people say that there are no more handmade lace shops anymore—they’re talking about needle lace. Uh… there are?

Of course it’s easy to use a subject I understand as an example, because otherwise, it’s very easy to be pulled down by conspiracy theories. That’s another input. People can’t tell the real from the fake because they don’t know any better, but the fake makes WAAAAY more money!

People will not check or follow up later! It is good to catch lies quickly just like it is good to listen to people explaining how things actually work! This whole thing is giving me a headache and a bad taste in my mouth. The ends do not justify the means, the means create their own ends!

She's lying. That's what's wrong. Either she's doing knowingly, or she did such a shoddy attempt at journalism that she shouldn't be able to find a job outside of OAN or Fox News.

So what? Multiple parts of her report were so factually wrong that Wired had to issue corrections! Why do you keep on glossing over that? Lmao
