What child - citizen or not - brings documentation papers to school? Every child they "select" will not have info with them, regardless of status. The first ID I ever carried was my driver's license.

My thought exactly. My kids did have passports but I barely wanted to give them those docs when they were in college let alone public school. They can’t find parents so let’s go after the children.

Right!! 💯 I’m Danish so this horrific situation doesn’t apply to us but I just want to add that my kids (11yo and 14yo) *constantly* forget, lose or misplace stuff - even the otherwise very responsible teenager. They would not be ready for the responsibility of carrying important legal documents.

Exactly! Which also immigration documents can cost $1,000+ to replace so why would an immigrant child be on a school field trip with thousand dollar documents that can be lost or stolen. Absurd

My high school daughters constantly lose homework, permission slips, etc. We are really supposed to trust them with irreplaceable government documents? I think this is the point - they expect people to lose them, then they are easier to deport.
