seriously though, these systems aren't designed to actually provide tangible value to consumers, they are simply performances intended to motivate investment in Tesla stock

And for Tesla owners, very expensive "upgrades." But Musk has opted for the Sony "Betamax" version of self-driving technology, using cameras only, while the rest of the world's EV mfrs have adopted the safer "VHS" version, using both cameras and LIDAR technology, even though it is more expensive.
