I need to learn better design I feel like i can draw characters decently well but when it comes yo doing like a backdrop or something its always super bland or looks a little weird, idk how some people do it so well

I mean can you create a box? Add stuff to the box like a bed fridge and table. Keep adding stuff or doing it over and over again until you feel confident to how things look, what goes here well with this plant with a cool pattern
Iām a semi active artist and this is how I create my backgrounds
I also have no idea where id start on learning how to do this well other than copy other people lol
You can play more with negative space. Make simple squire, extend contour of a char out of said figure and try to ground them within "void space" by transforming it any way you like! If you work with refs, you can find big value shapes behind model, color code them and, once again, experiment!
But yeah, always make sure that chars no matter what feel grounded, we perceive depth all the time and it just feel nice to feel that char stand on something even abstract rather then nothing at all :3c
Have you read 'Framed Ink by Marcos Mateu-Mestre' yet? It's a very good starting point for anyone who wants to make better backgrounds.
Yes i have, but i feel like its less of a background problem and more of a graphic design problem Its like "character in a void of color" type things im talking about
Stuff I can think of off the top of my head is to try to make gradients with textures/shapes, since at the moment yours look airbrushed. Make sure your character has some of the background colour on them (like at the edges, in shadows) so they don't look pasted onto the canvas. Is that helpful? :)
Iunno man I follow you for what's going on in the foreground ĀÆā \ā _ā (ā ćā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ
