We are no closer to inventing technology that can "think" than they were in 1968. "Artifical intelligence" is a marketing term. It's a fancy plagiarism chatbot.

Yet, the algorithms can at least **fake it** well enough to fool a LOT of people into thinking they're talking to human-like intelligences. Be skeptical of how they're marketed, sure, but to claim there's been no progress since 1968 is patently false and too severe a claim in the other direction.

There has been a ton of progress in almost every aspect of technology since 1968, but I don't see one shred of evidence that we are any closer to replicating independent thought. There is not even a blueprint on how it could ever be achieved. People are being catfished by a Speak & Spell.

I completely agree with you there. "AI" isn't going to rise up... it's going to kill us all because Big Balls is going to put it in charge of global wheat production or some shit like that.
