Over on football Twitter, the ESPN employees last night were lining up to kiss the ass of the guy who actually runs the NFL after his world-historic fuckup

Don Van Natta Jr.: Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys by shaking hands with Bum Bright. Micah Parsons committed to a contract extension with Jerry on a handshake. When Parsons reneged, Jerry decided Parsons would never again wear the star on his helmet. If Jerry can’t trust you, you’re done. Peter Schrager: Fact is, Jerry Jones being the owner AND GM gives him the ability to think LONG TERM and not feel the pressure of his job hanging in balance. Another GM is immediately on hot seat if this doesn't work. Jerry, as GM, can make a decision without that factor or concern of his job. [editor's note: Jerry Jones turns 83 in October, so I'm not sure what

Copy that @goforproduction.bsky.social

This is some world recording setting cope. Clearly one of the worst deals in years in the NFL.

Meanwhile www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootb...

Beyond the question of whether history will look kindly or poorly upon the Micah Parsons trade, the manner in which Cowboys owner Jerry Jones handled Parsons and his agent, David Mulugheta, could leave a mark. Here’s an unsolicited text that arrived from a long-time agent during Friday’s edition of PFT Live: “You have no idea how damaging this episode is for the Cowboys as it relates to the entire agent community. We all talk and nobody would ever willingly steer their clients to that team. Make no mistake, they’ve never been a honest or good organization, but since [Jerry] so brazenly disrespected and went behind the back of a top player’s top agent, they are in serious trouble moving forward. This is really one of those ‘time to take the car keys away’ moments.”

as owner and GM, Jerry can focus on the long term success of his organization instead of chasing short term headlines. this strategy has led to *checks notes* 4 playoff wins in the last 25 years

As owner and GM, Jerry doesn’t have to worry about things like “job performance”

As someone turning 83 in October, Jerry is playing the long game, which he definitely has plenty of time to do

Yeah that’s the funniest part imo. Dude has been rebuilding for decades now. One would think the long play would have payed off by now if he was actually good at his job

It's been 30 years since the Cowboys even made the NFC Championship Game, twice as long as the next-longest drought. That's certainly a long game
