The paper refers to the pandemic in past, implying the increase in neurodegenerative dx is happening from early on infections. I wish there was clearer wording in some of these studies that more research is needed since millions are still getting covid and long covid..

There was a paper that I read soon after the Omicron wave where they tested the different variants, incl omicron, on brain micro organelles. The results of that one study found that the neurotropism was increasing w each variant. I should see if I can find it again but the search engines are 💩 now

TY so much for replying to this as life got in the way again & I totally forgot. Looks like Omicron was eventually found to have ⬇️ neurotropism but some subvariants of Omicron have had ⬆️neurotropism so it's all over the map w one key takeaway. Omicron still has neurological manifestations. 😅

Discusses the changes between pre-Omicron & Omicron variants on the CNS & blood brain barrier with different findings that had the OG virus & Omicron being more detrimental. Plus there's Omicron subvariants w differences. YEESH. jneuroinflammation.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....
