Is she looking forward to it?
Is she looking forward to it?
She is! Kid #1 has been back in school since 7/30 and she has felt left out not having school. She loves her pre-k and learning in general and this year will be focused on kinder preparedness. I’ll be supplementing with Hooked on Phonics and more writing as much as her at home interest allows.
I figured there might be some “I want to be a big kid, too” going on. May she always look forward to learning and let nothing dim that pleasure for her!
I won’t be pushing anything too much at home but I’ll be offering and strongly encouraging her to do 15 minutes of the Hooked on Phonics games on my tablet each day. She loves the books and workbooks HOP sends so I have no problem keeping her interest with the HOP books and books in general.
Good idea. Make that instant tiny burst of serotonin work for something that builds skills!
We use tablets very sparingly, so she’s always excited to have a little tablet time, so like you said it’s at least it’s screen time that builds skills!
Screens are sooooo ubiquitous. It’s an issue for my 22 y.o. who has been addicted to her phone since she was in middle school. In retrospect I wish I had exercised more control. I can only imagine how much harder it is now.
It’s really hard. I have to keep hard and fast limits and not waver unless like we’re traveling or something. But the good news is aside from a little tv time neither kiddo expects tablet time every day and I limit it to like PBS Kids and Hooked on Phonics/Hooked On Math
Well, that last part is all credit to you for managing their expectations, which is the hardest part. And it all sounds like a reasonable balance.
