Majority vote doesn't determine if something is left or right wing. These are ideological political stances with definitions. You establish whether someone is left of right wing by establishing if their believes align with the appopriate ideology. The median voter is not definition a centrist

The ideologies that are considered right or left wing flow around based on allegiance and definition. Trying to put ideologies objectively right or left always leads to absurdities, it's most useful to define them based on allegiance.
