The Huguenots were French Protestants who at one time made up 10% of the population. They were persecuted by the Catholic majority, culminating in the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre of 1572, in which around 70.000 were murdered. Thousands of Huguenots were granted asylum in England.

Fascinating. Thanks. I can’t help but draw parallels with what is happening in the Middle East right now, although the Israelis have less of an excuse since their persecution happened in relatively recent history. Learn from it or be doomed to repeat as they say.
