It is true (but misleading for this case) to say that black object cool faster. They both absorb and release heat more effectively than lighter colored objects. So the black objects gets hotter and is "cooling faster" from a higher starting temperature. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_b...

Right..that makes sense. It gets further out from the baseline temperature and so, of course, accelerates more quickly back towards that baseline once the heat source is gone.
