Listen, I am not saying DC doesn’t have problem areas. But the fact they are focusing on the Mall shows you they are not actually trying to solve the problem but simply to make visual statement of power and authoritarianism.

As someone who did live there when much of the city was dangerous (we loved the ganja gang on the corner of Euclid because they kept the more dangerous dealers out and were very nice) DC is not a scary place. Plus, one can just look at the readily available statistics that show DC crime at a low.
