I love reading the writing of a well spoken critic. Tell me why you don’t like a thing I love. I may disagree but understanding where the art fell short for someone else helps me learn as an artist, as a human.
Likewise, I want to know why people actually like the art that they like. Unfortunately, most people don’t interrogate that or they can’t express it well enough for me to take anything from it. Which is disappointing, perhaps, but I shouldn’t be shocked after 22 years of being a colossal snob.
But, hey, I’ll tell you right now that I have no use for the “biggest names in music” because almost every bit of it just sounds like product. I’ll tear down a rich pop star every single day. They are not your peers. You are a walking wallet to every single one of them.
