Public schools also get this funding. Actually, far MORE funding. Weren't we all just complaining that it's too easy to shoot children in a church?

This appears to be specifically for protection against shooters. I don’t believe this kind of funding is given to public schools. They are throwing pennies at a real problem that just needs sensible legislation to control the sale of weapons.

Yes, it is given to public schools. And it does have some benefit But, yes, it's security rather than trying to actually fix things
