The thing is that these statistics are quite specific and they have come from somewhere. It's not so much about them coming from Trump but coming from the American intelligence that he usually outright ignores.

Well quite. Trump cannot be trusted. But I still find this claim of his interesting for a number of reason, not least him being more critical of Russia across the board.

The point is about the encirclement, this was at a period when he was listening to the Russians. That seems not the case anymore.

What you have to consider he said dead,and not losses. The Ukrainian military losses can be 3-1 easily, but if they save the injured ones, the russian don't. It can work out easily like that. I have seen here many articles the russian not caring much about wounded.
