They kind of have to be to compete. Even if the US walls itself off from competition within the US, Ford will want to sell outside the US too.

Ford is (has been) a major car brand globally, but the vehicles it sells to the world are made outside of the US and are completely different models to the domestic ones. However, I am sceptical when any legacy automaker claims something fantastic just around the corner...
