Just to clarify, one word for 'suit' in Russian is ΠΊΠΎΡΡΡΠΌ which sounds like 'costume'.

My father, a Polish tailor, often called a suit a costume. He was taken from his home in eastern Poland by the Soviets at the age of 19 in 1939 but eventually got to the U.K. after WW2 and became a tailor.
