Uni is where I learned about the many negatives of empire. I don't think school taught me anything about it. Closest they got was teaching us about native Americans but even then it was as if that was something done by Americans, not European colonists.
As an example there's a world of difference between what Irish children and British children are taught about Oliver Cromwell.
I mean, i feel wounded by that last sentence, but sure.

We have an entire GCSE unit built around an objective look at the history of Empire and it's increasingly taught at KS3 too. Cromwell and Ireland have been taught since I was at school.
