The Onion’s gonna have a hard time satirizing this. 🤦🏼♀️
The Onion’s gonna have a hard time satirizing this. 🤦🏼♀️
The next 4 years are peak Onion
Omg yeah 😂 What is this fucking timeline? I can't with how bullshit everything is. This announcement is sus and fits in well Onion articles.
Yeah but it'll make great material for The Simpsons
I really do feel for them in our post-satire world...
Ikr, my very first thought was "Onion?"
All they have to do is talk about running a big extension cord to get the power back to Earth
A big orange one.
Don’t forget garden and air hoses.
Ah yes that's a good point! I forgot you need a fuckton of water to make a nuclear reactor work. How did we end up in the stupid timeline? Everything is just so painfully stupid right now it hurts my brain
You also need natural gas. That’s used to clean and purge system. It’s used before start up. From what my mother said it’s the most dangerous part of the clean energy play. She was working at one that went boom. Luckily she took that day off.
Put it on the dark side of the moon, no cooling required. No shielding either since it's space and no one is there to run it. Still a stupid idea though.
Cf45 cabinet can observe to make sure nothing happens. They can share an air tank. Kind of like passing the bong around.
The dark side of the moon is not always dark and cold
You are correct. I should have phrased differently. There are parts of the moon that never see sunlight.
You still need to boil water to make steam and spin a turbine. Also, it's a common misconception, but the moon is equally lit on both sides (though you can get almost permanent dark in some deep craters)
The newest generation of micro reactors don't need water. You are correct on the lighting though. In the end, just need to keep it out of the sunlight. There are places where that can be achieved.
Is the water for cooling the core or something? And maybe the moon is cold enough you don’t need the water? I have no idea.
Large nuclear plants on Earth work by dipping radioactive rods (which are very hot) into water to boil it. Steam makes turbines spin to make power. Extra water is needed to keep the rods cool so they don't meltdown.
Thank you for explaining.
To be fair, he said they were going to build it. Never said anything about actually turning it on or getting literally any benefit out of building it. They just want a bigger flex than the flag.
They are going to build a full size reactor on the moon( like three mile island)? Not transport mini reactors there? I know where the labor is coming from.
Just build it on the dark side of the moon.
The sad part is we can’t get back to the moon. We do not have a rocket that will get us there. It’s just the dumbest time line.
Space x will take you there as long as Elon is the pilot.
We do though. Artemis 2 is scheduled to launch next spring and take its crew on a trip around the moon and back.
We don’t yet.
Artemis 1 already made the trip without a crew.
Yes it did. We still don’t have one yet. Love the optimism… but Hope is not a strategy.
We literally launched a rocket that sent a spacecraft around the moon though. Like, that rocket is a real thing that exists, and we have more than one of them. We’re sending people on the next one in less than a year.
The rocket exists, but has not launched with a human crew. So although the platform exists, it has not been crewed nor did it land and return from the moon! This isn’t complicated.
Water? We will just squeeze the green cheese!
Or gas. Could be gas-cooled, depending on its design.
My mother worked on clean energy plants have to confer with her on that one.
😹 you do that!
Oh! Here we go m.economictimes.com/news/interna...
It’s…(checks notes) a fuckton and a half
NASA just cancelled their lunar water mapping project. Seems like that was essential to making a freakin nuclear reactor work right? www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasas-l...
u guys it takes Loads of water to cool a reactor. its a terrible idea Solar panels far safer ..
If they can’t find water they can’t have a reactor. And they need million of gallons of water. This entire project is a pipe dream and a way for trump and musk to embezzle money
Where the rover lands( crashes is more like it.) that will be a perfect spot. What’s the purpose of putting a reactor on the moon anyway?
So that USA have better claim for that part of the moon area or land for themselves for obvious safety reasons and for current/future power struggle of other superpowers.
Epstein files are there
If they aren’t they will soon be.
To funnel tax dollars to Duffy's friends
To make unlimited unmetered 'tricity for a lunartic's crypto mining operation, of course.
I know what crypto is , but you have to mine for it. So that means there’s a limited supply? How is cf45 going to get enough crypto when us currency becomes worthless?
"real" crypto you have to mine for, meme coins you just mint.
in theory nothing stops one from deploying a program to make a memecoin that requires mining to mint drillx + meme of choice github.com/regolith-lab...
Sure you CAN built a Meme coin that requires mining but the bottom line is the VAST majority of them are minted en masse, the creator keeps half (or whatever) and hopes the market buys the rest in order to imbue the creator's holdings with value.
With this administration, it's entirely possible they think crypto requires literal mining and there's a deposit of it on the moon
Talk to me like I’m 50 . What exactly is crypto?
I'll try to give an analogy. With real money you have tokens made and backed by the government, which get held for you in bank accounts. When money goes from one account to another, the change gets recorded in a ledger (in the form of a database the bank keeps).
"Talk to me like I'm 50."😏😆🤣
It’s like playing musical chairs with tulips. But instead of tulips it’s ones and zeros and a shit Tom of wasted electricity.
It’s kind of like the US dollar—a fiat currency backed by the market alone.
Electric money. It started out as an experimental way to decentralize the global monetary system and hedge against unpredictability of fiat currency. But now it's just another fiat currency used by the ultra wealthy and criminal organizations (mutually inclusive) to avoid taxes and launder money.
It’s money that doesn’t work if the electricity goes out or the satellite goes out or you forget your encrypted password, it’s quicker to say it’s for the rich, not the unwashed masses.
So rude my dude. I was born in the seventies and have a firm grasp of crypto… I do not, however, know what skibidi means
I’ll tell you, but it’ll cost you 5 stablecoins
It’s embedded in A1 sauce calderas
That's absolute stupidity. Everyone knows you can't make crypto out of green cheese.
Might have to make out of Lego to be light enough to get it up there.
I would really appreciate a simple description of what mining for crypto actually is
Imagine a video game where you have to grind to get resources or collect all the stars or whatever. Now make the size of the game nearly infinity huge and the number of stars relatively small so you get your computer(s) to do the looking for you. That's crypto mining
Distraction for Epstein files
So the money can't be used to help anyone on Earth.
Probably to generate plutonium for nukes.
Rare-earth minerals or rare-moon minerals?
I’m not a nuclear engineer, but while the giant power plants on earth do need water for cooling and for turbine spinning, I believe this not the case for more modern small modular reactors work.
I was just wondering where they are going to get water. I know shit all about nuclear reactors, except you need water.
anna-bleps... I swear this must be an alternate time line and ppl in the real time line are saying wtf and watching this sh*t on TV
That’s simple dummy, just get a wireless extensioncord!
No way! They can convert the nuclear power into light and collect the light energy on Earth with solar panels. See? You're the dummy! (This is a joke)
🤣🤣🤣 It will be like a golden dome of energy, free for anyone to pluck from the sky with their power-receivers. I imagine they’ll look like flat stuff on roofs
This from the solar doesn’t work at night crowd
They need power to run mining equipment. Mining the moon would avoid all those pesky laws we have on Earth. W/ all those powerless prisoners in Trump’s shiny new concentration camps, there’ll be a never-ending supply of slaves, oops! unionized workers in the mines! Great work if you can get it.
It's like a Doctor Who episode ...
I haven’t watched that show, but it’s like almost every dystopian book/movie ever made.
Just reprint the article verbatim
