While CVI is not a direct cause of dementia, some research suggests a link between venous disease & development of cognitive impairment, including vascular dementia. CVI can lead to venous hypertension, which may contribute to cerebral small vessel disease & increase the risk of cognitive decline

My mom had vascular dementia but it was from atrial flutter and many concussions from passing out, falling, and hitting her head. I could understand a link between CVI and dementia.
