lately food seems significantly more expensive
lately food seems significantly more expensive
Agreed. I estimated it's about tariff more expensive 😞
pre-tariff jitters more expensive, it’s only going to get worse
Yup
Surprisingly only the woke notice😉
I don't see how this is possible. The current president said he was going get the prices of "groceries" (a word hardly anyone uses anymore) way way down on day one. So you must be mistaken.
Have you consider patriotically not eating? Someone has to pay for Stephen Miller's private army, after all.
Prices are up, quality is down. The produce section is full of rejects I’d have never seen on a store shelf six months ago.
This 👆 Many items are lower quality than what we normally see even though prices are rising fast.
If you buy a smaller refrigerator, it will look full.
I’m primarily plant-based and produce prices are off the charts from just a few months ago (and they weren’t that cheap then).
I’ve saved a lot of money by simply taking bites of random people’s sandwiches at restaurants
Produce is rotting on the vine out west because ICE is arresting farm workers. People are afraid to come to work.
The Stephen Miller Food Tax
Because it is.
But "muh gas" is cheaper.
No shit, ya think?
A few months ago we took home a big bag of something from a food rescue that had a $68 price tag on it
i was out of the country for a year, living in a place with remarkably cheap food relative to the overall cost of living (taiwan), and restocking my pantry after coming home has been a shock. not just the shinkflation and price hikes, but the unevenness of the changes (beef and eggs in particular!).
i really need to get my garden in ASAP.
Tried that🫤 Water bill was $300+ for July (so hot had to water am & pm) but hey, got 3 cherry tomatoes, 2 eggplants & a handful of green onions! Yum!🤣
yeah, the cost-benefit varies by climate and water rates (i grew up gardening in CA's central valley, so i know how it can be). in the impossibly-wet south, the challenge is often too much water.
That I would love to experience! Umbrellas for plants? 😂 This year summer monsoon failed here & record heat stresses all the plants, even cactus needs water. Good luck in your gardening. There’s nothing like growing your own!
i have actually used shade cloth (ie. parasols) for plants in CA when the heat got to be too much, but yeah, it rains hard here. dry-farming tomatoes is basically impossible, the plants get however much the weather decides to give them, very different approach to gardening than i was used to!
Only coffee, beef, orange juice, applesauce, beer, and breakfast cereal. Nothing important.
If only someone would have warned PedoPrez about his tariffs.
No real change up here. Eggs still $4.63.
Glad I wasn’t the only one who has noticed. Someone should tell the media
Just take it
it is. big time.
Yeah, but Biden stuttered.
We can't have that!
Kamala laughed though
Hello! Are you interested in working from home? No experience is needed, one week of training. Earn $30 per hour! for more information, text me +1 (220) 257-1768
We've been saving receipts to track the rising prices. Our usual haul cost 30% more over the past couple of weeks.
Indeed it does.
It is. Very much so. Who could have predicted this (Apart from anyone with a brain)
Proposed tariffs are not helping.
It sure is!
During the height of the pandemic, I found joy in cooking and making the best of what was available. Even that seems to have been taken away.
My grocery bill was already too high for a family of $280-$350 a week (that’s on me). It’s been over $400 for the last few weeks.
Damn. That was supposed to be “family of 3”.
Many more reasons for it than anyone realizes. Meat and eggs is the lack of regulating monopolies due to Bork. I buy local. Blueberries were subsidized by foreign aid. Doubled. All staples affected by immigration. No consumer protection
So far, I’ve been fortunate in that the big spikes are in things I don’t regularly want or really need, or have coupons for that help take away some of the sting. But holy hell I’m glad it’s just me and have less-than-refined tastes.
Definitely
Brutally so
Every trip to the store is $100+ regardless of what I buy
In the UK, we've been on this wagon for a while. Inflation is a real kicker
It is!
Toiletries too, if it's in a metal container it just jumped up by a couple bucks.
Bigly
Uhhhhh.......r u trolling? Or just brain dead?
🤔 Huge if true. Much to consider.
Prices are so high I feel like I'm in a foreign country and should be factoring in an exchange rate. But nope, cereal is regularly over $7 a box and crackers over $5. Wanted to go to a little sea food shack for dinner. Would have been $18 for 8 fried shrimp and $31 for 4oz lobster roll. Can't do it.
Dang that is either robbery or loss of kitchen staff. I fed a party of 10 with lobster rolls for about that 15 years ago
Trumpflation
Trump's more concerned about funding wars than feeding US people.
Yeah but what do you need food for except to.... you know... eat.
The package of coffee grounds (Folgers half caff) I buy from Walmart has gone up $4 since January
We just went to McDonald's for the first time in forever. Grabbed our usual which runs about 25-30 bucks. It was Sixty Dollars!! I thought he rung it up wrong
I haven't been to a McDonald's since Trump "worked" at one.
Yeah we try not to go at all but last night was a rare occurrence. I guess it was our last visit ever
At those prices, I can see why! 😬
I could have gone to my favorite local restaurant and had real food for that price. Not flavored paper shaped to look like a burger patty
*putting on tube top and red lipstick to go to produce truckers distribution center You noticed huh
You'll need a 2nd mortgage to buy a 30 pack of paper towels next week. I feel like that is now $50.
Just buy cheap kitchen towels
That’s what we do. I’ve not bought paper towels in years. Flour sack towels are cheap and absorbent.
It has been the number one topic of conversation at my local food pantry the last two weeks.
Right?!
I have been at seminars in Germany the past two months, and even with the sinking dollar, it's amazing how much money I've saved on food.
