My guess on that is direct checks versus....well...whatever the dems did following 2008. There was a ton of money sloshed on the market but not to everyone. in 20, we all got straight cash homie. but also, I heard SO many times before the election "everything was fine until covid"...

Yeah, no way on God's green Earth does a GOP-controlled House pass any covid mitigation measures under a President Clinton.

Yeah without Covid Trump would have absolutely dogwalked Biden in 2020, more or less the same as he did to Harris in 2024.

Definitely with the 2019 economy -- and a Biden who had to campaign! Unfortunately, Biden assumed he won because of his "Trump is bad, let's return to normal" platform. Big mistake.

I think things tightened toward the end of 2020 because of covid fatigue and Trump was starting to campaign on "no more shutdowns, masks, etc."

Biden thinking that what America needed was an invisible president is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen from a president. It was even dumber than his pathological compulsion to say "My friends in the Republican Party" whenever he did deign to come out and see his shadow.
