There's no political will to fix this. The common person does not see censorship of obscene material as a 'real issue' when the world is on fire You are going to find it extremely difficult to try and argue that even though it's legal it should be okay and the processors are doing something wrong
Just look at the main things being taken down right now: Incest, R*pe, and other extremely taboo. People are not going to come to the defense of these things, people do not want to be known as the 'lolicon defender' in online spaces, they certainly don't want to be called a pedophile IRL.
So they're going to look the other way even when it starts to hit queer people, they're only going to start to care if it starts to risk their Game of Thrones shows on HBO or their GTA 6 on Steam.
Thats why its important to frame it as what it REALLY is: credit card companies getting to decide what you can and cant buy with YOUR money
You can frame it however you want, it won't matter when the opposition can just frame you as a pedophile or protecting pedophiles. Nobody in politics is going to touch this with a mile long pole - and only people in politics have any power to change this.
