Their first 3 albums are pretty good… High N Dry is awesome… after Pyromania, meh.

Great hard rock albums 👍
Spot on. Could not agree more.
Saw them with KISS years ago in Mansfield, MA. They were great and more entertaining than KISS that evening.
SO TRUE! I remember working the Florida and Cruise Ship circuits. We played a few clubs in Panama City and Pensacola where that’s all you heard when we took breaks. Of course we had to play it too and the working girls did use the tune to their advantage.
Lets follow that up with Salt n Pepper talking bout SEX BABY
First cassette tape I bought. But I will never admit that.
That Album was /is incredible.
yep ... "it took off from there" ...
I cannot remember how many Def Leppard tapes(yes, tapes-I’m old) I wore out.
I saw them at the Retford Poterhouse back in '79. When they were beginning to look like a half decent rock band. Few years later they went to the States and became a pop group.🫤
Oh and I was at that show!
My HS friend is in the video! 😂
Is no one else surprised at the 37 years ago part?
Fuck!
Oh, Florida @craigtimes.bsky.social
What a perfect rock n roll story.
Strippers are the cultural emissaries of America.
Def Leppard... awesome.
and diabetes cases sored
Ahhh reminds me of the age old question: What exactly is a radar phone?
It's another name for a satellite phone - one you could use in inhospitable locations and still make calls.
Either that or my ex-pilot colleague was talking shit. 50/50. But I think that's what it is. 'Radar phone' is easier to sing than 'Satellite phone'.
I just remember laughing ohh way back when this came out. Everyone was like uhh wut? 🤣
It also featured in the best movie about ultra-competitive pingpong (or, as the Chinese say, .. pingpong) ever made.
Strippers - doing the lord’s work, god bless them
Bring back glam rock and long hair mullets! 👍😎
I saw them on this tour. They were so awesome!
Was it Orlando?
That whole album 🤌 Second row at Red Rocks for that tour. Was AMAZING!!
Not many good or great whole album, but was definitely one.
My phone grammar sucked.
Incels need to take note. I still find big hair rock bands HOT!!!🤭
Thanks for letting me know how old I am. I’m never going to get out of this depression.
I remember! ❤️
No offense to anyone, but in my opinion, this is an awful song. Pyromaniac was a really good album. I'm not hating.
I never understood the hype, that band was bubblegum rock. Total crap
High n Dry & On through the Night good enough albums also
2nd best stripper song ever, after Alice Cooper's "Poison".
Stripper’s in Hawaii too. (Roommates)
Tits a great song!
Damnit, I love a timely and socially relevant history lesson. Carl, you are a treasure!
With every song sounding the same! rock it yeah!
Yep! Great song for a stage dance!
Great band, always a great show. 😉
I remember it
Carl this is a small slice of joy you have provided me during this constant flustercuck of propaganda, economic illiteracy and gvt. by bullying and lies. Thank you.
Saw this live. Almost got squashed.
Still rocking! 🔥
Quietly as it's kept, almost every real hit song is popular with Florida strippers.
Omg I hated that song so much. Still do. That absolute pinnacle, pit?, of shitty 80s music
Love this song, absolute nostalgia for an amazing teenhood. And it really is the best stripping song
Great memories ❤️❤️❤️
Glad I saw them twice.
That song ruined MTV for a whole summer
America, with amber waves of grain and bathtub speed.
lol - it was my first favorite song at the age of four
RIP Steve Clark youtube.com/shorts/fOZNt...
What’s that you say? 3.7 years ago today? I’m comfortable with that number. Thanks for sharing it.
The hair, you gotta love the hair
I hated this song. Still do.
Same here, 1 of their worst & interestingly was a bigger hit in US than Ireland & UK. 'Animal' was the bigger song here.
We have American studios for polluting the world soundspace, with these "written as a big single for the band" album driver radio 📻 chart hit. Warrants cherry pie, the bangles"walk like an Egyptian" , the Divynils "I Touch myself" and so many more 😋 artistically desolate aural wastelands. 😅
Good point & heard it said by artists that most record execs haven't a clue what Good music sounds like. All they see is dollar signs.
Oh, it's absolutely true. They understand how bad music sells, is cheap to produce and the plebs lap it up. Like they sacked the Monkees, and replaced them with "the Archie's", an animated band of the same session musos that did the Monkees work. Cheaper. Mind you, I like the Monkees, and the sound.
Ahh, good times🤙
Ouch…. 37 years
Love the boys. Saw them twice in the UK back in the day. Still great songs to listen to today.
Truly one of the greatest
My favorite Def Leppard song.
It’s always the first song in my running playlists! Great beat to get me going.
awesome
This was my favorite song senior year in high school. Oh, the sweet summer child I was lol
Fun fact, Carl’s stage name while putting himself through college was Buck Naked.
That was SUPPOSED to be a secret.
My aunt assured me she erased the photos.
This was one of the first songs that I could play on Bass in Rocksmith without ever looking at the screen years back. A minor personal accomplishment that happened YEARS after the song was released, but it will always have a special place in my heart for that alone.
Strippers in Florida was the progenitor of a lot of things in those days 😂
Their High n Dry album was my favorite, every song was good but Lady Strange has to be top of my list…pour some sugar on me came out when I was 14 and was so over played, by 15 I couldn’t stand it 😂
My favorite Def Leppard song, one of the greatest power ballads ever, it gives me chills when Joe Elliott hits the high notes, the guy could flat out sing. youtu.be/muAHWWFKG_E?...
This came out when I was 19... and it's still one of my all-time faves of the 80s era! It's just so damn good.
That it is, a masterpiece from a great era of music. 👍
Gypsy, sittin' lookin' pretty, a broken rose with laughing eyes... This gets me every time. I dunno if it's the timbre of Joe's voice or what, though.
For the record, a gal named Torre was serving drinks the first time I heard this song. The DJ was probably Mike Michelle Rugenstein or Sheila Cunningham might remember.
I guess we'll make this the first post to reference Siloz.
❤️❤️
If you can get strippers behind it, you've got gold.
That song always reminds me of a dangerously sexy woman I met during a pool tournament…. Yep, all these years later…
Fun song to play too. Just don’t play it in the guitar store. It’s the new stairway to heaven.
Terrible f***ing song.
There are definitely much better tracks on Hysteria.
Love it. I was 10 🤣😎
Every time I hear this now I think of Tig Notarro discussing the lyrics with Conan O’Brien.
Makes me feel old I remember blasting this album on repeat from my under dash cassette
That was THE biggest song of the summer
7 years old in Nowhere, Indiana, we were told that this was a Satanic anthem. The sugar was for eating human brains.
10 years old in Amish country, Pennsylvania. Never heard that but glad I did now. It kinda makes it better.
HA!!! Born and raised in Lancaster County PA too 🤗 Love when I see someone from home on here!
I'm thinking the men and women at WatchMojo.com need to make a list of the top 10 songs that you could hear at a gentleman's club. I'd bank that this song would take the top spot!
😃 strippers always have the best music … I went through a string of them not long ago and can attest both at home and at work .. their music taste is fantastic 👌🏼
Why I make me feel soooo old 😭
Video film at McNichol’s Arena “Big Mac” in Denver, CO.
For a minute there I thought you'd written "Phil Collins," and I was thinking 'Man, Phil knows a lot about strippers.'
"No jacket required" isn't exactly "you can leave your hat on" 🤣
😂. I just assumed it was something in the air...
God bless America 🫡 🇺🇸
One of my favorite songs from my favorite band. So good!!
One of my favorite songs.
Damn I'm feeling old. I remember it coming out. 😬🤭
Same with Pyro well actually on thru the night as well
I bought this album when it came out. 🤘😆 Love every song. 🎶
I covered it in bands. We used to cal it "Pour Some Boogers On Me." 🤣
It still streams out of the pub I live next door to when there's an abundance of drunken white girls present! 🥴
A HIGHLY evocative song.
😂🤣😅
I wonder when they are going to release the Keto version.
Well don’t I feel old??
Greatest Rock song of all time
We run stripper trends
Finally, something good coming out of Florida.
‘took off’ get it?
It's about as subtle as the lyrics to Billy Idols "moni moni", as in not in the slightest. Ooh, but what about that classic, bloody marvellously graphic "Cherry Pie". I gather the Warrant did it for the studio who wrote it for them, wanting a hit single, they hated it with passion. Not surprised.
Don’t ask me the book, but a killer used this song while pouring sugar on his victim. I always think of that scene when I hear the song.
There was a T-Mobile ad a while back where they made fun of misheard lyrics. So this will forever be “Pour some shook up ramen”
I've seen them in concert three times!!
37 years? God, I am so old.
I use to rush home from school so I could watch the video on MTv and imitate the jump kick of my coffee table
We got a different official music video in Europe for the song. But the US video was shown occasionally.
The follow up "pour some sugar on me with one arm", just didn't sell as well, even to the young kids.
I didn't see Def Leppard back then, but had the chance to see the band in the faux Journey (no Steve Perry) tour. On that day, faux Journey opened, but my friend & I arrived late and only saw the last song of the set. We didn't care because we really just wanted to see DL. And they ROCKED! 🤘
I take offense that you call the Arnel Pineda version of Journey “faux!”
I had no intention of offending you, any other fan or Arnel. I apologize. Any insult from me is directed toward Neal Schon, a talented guitarist and sorry excuse for a human being.
Gotcha! And yes, he is a narcissistic dick!
🙌
They were great when Steve was in the band and Mutt had the wheel. After Steve passed, their familiar sound just disappeared.
Considering how legendary Mutt is, I reckon it shouldn't be a surprise awesomeness drops away to average, when he steps away from production. He had the goods, the gift, the mojo the juice, the meidad touch of rock, not many like that.
I feel there may be a film opportunity with that story. I won’t be watching it per se, but there is potential.
Strippers in Florida were the heroes we didn’t deserve.
Sir I did not need this math. But thank you for reminding us anyway, 'cause this band is the best hair metal of the 80's.
In concert the ladies stand and gyrate , they still play a great live show
I thought the song WAS about strippers
5th grade - good times
Crap I'm old.
Watch Bank of Dave for Def Leppard nostalgia
Hysteria is solid.
[nsfw] Ninja Sex Party did a great cover of this one
I like how he threw in "God's honest truth", as though we would need to be convinced about the reason for its rise to fame, when in fact strippers is the only plausible origin story.
For fuck's sake, this just made me feel really old. I was 12 when this came out. I remember it like yesterday 😂
My friend would pick me up to go to school and he said everyday, "I have a new tape to play" everyday the first song was Pour some sugar on me, 2 fucking years of that. Best friend ever
My old boss Randy, his dad also signed Def Leppard as well as the Bee Gees, he told me.
This took me back in time, and I would like to go back 37 years for oh so many reasons
yea, all the drunken bimbos in the club used to fill the floor when we payed that one
True, true
I mean, it /is/ a great song to strip to...🙃
That long huh? That’s for reminding me.
Kyndle Wylde and PMJ did a fantastic cover: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilCl...
I find the stripper contingent Theory unconvincing. It just happens to be a great song. I mean, it's not like warrant"s cherry pie www.southwestwifi.com?clk=captive-...
One of MY ALL time favorites 😍 ❤️
ANIMAL
Some of the best songs to ever be recorded came out of the 80s. ❤️
Hysteria, one of my longstanding favourite albums. Seen Def Leppard live, they were supported by Whitesnake, it was a good gig.
Love me some White Snake! David Coverdale is a dbag but a great voice!
Young adult memories of coyote ugly surfacing!
Can confirm have heard this played in a few... ahem discos over the years.
That'll do it.
Hysteria was a great album
Florida and strippers….sounds about right 🤘🤘🤘
I had never heard the back story.
Still an awesome tune.
Doesn't mean it was a good song. Hair bands nearly ruined rock.
Oh the memories.
this song still slaps! saved up allowance & went to roses get this fresh lp (which i still have). now i must go dust off the turntable, slide this vinyl on & turn it to 11 because nostalgia is one helluva drug.
Mock rock. Lead Zeppelin dropped the A in Lead because American listeners were pronouncing Lead as in "to lead into battle" rather than the metal. Not like Americans to mispronounce a word eh? Hahaha
I think I might have pouring a bit of sugar
🤟
Strippers loved it sure but it's so damn catchy, 🎶 It was fated to be a hit.
The gurls gots the power always have
Seems messy and wasteful......
I am not OK with that.
That’s what they call groundswell in the industry, good on him for listening to the public
Top 10 Cringe Metal
Hahaha one of my best mates got a private dance off a stripper after seeing her routine to that song.
Great song
Freedom for Ekrem İmamoğlu
And now I know 😀
This is my favorite fact of the day!
My sister used to blast this song and others from record machine. 😂
What's hilarious is my now 20 yo daughter...blasts music from our new record player. Vinyl is back, baby.
Yes
Must be a KISS concert!
Hahahaha my first real concert was in JR high. Went to a KISS concert at MSQ,
Kiss was my first in NYC right when I got home from Nam.
💋
My first...Duran Duran. Fight me.
My 12 year old son rescued some old cassette tapes and loves his new cassette player.
That is awesome! My 20 yo and I went to Franz Ferdinand concert 12 days ago, she commented on the wide range of ages of the people there...including one 11 year old boy with his mom, who probably would hit it off with your son, liking older stuff.
Let’s face it, 80s music is the best. No matter the genre! Every generation after knows our songs and all the words! What other era can say that? YES, that is the hill I chose to die on!
Coming from a musical family, which included grandparents who, instead of hating the Beatles like so many parents did, thought they were innovative and great...I can vouch there are songs from before the 80s that everyone can sing.
I respectfully disagree. The 1970s had it all. The last of The Beatles, the Stones, Zeppelin, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Frampton Comes Alive, Boston, Jim Croce, The Eagles, and Disco. Something for everyone!
I was raised by silent gen parents with two much older sisters who let me inherit their 60s & 70s vinyl collections & was a teen in the 80s. Needless to say, I have an extremely eclectic knowledge base of & taste in music. My playlist will give you whiplash. 😆
My late mom was a Boomer who had older sisters, all Silents, Mom always said she was influenced by having big sisters...except for music. In her opinion, music only started to get good with the Beatles. And Mom would argue there was always waves of good music ever after that.
Same here but I DO NOT LIKE country. I can listen to anything but that. Yeah if you saw my Spotify play list you would think it was curated by 30 random people.
The 70s definitely had something for everybody.
Yeah but remember disco! Not everyone was a fan but everyone loves the 80s!
40 million copies sold! (Even though nobody will admit to having bought one.)
People wouldn't admit it until the mid 90s, when disco had a huge resurgence.
I had it! I love them.
My ex loved The Bee Gees. Our home vm had them playing in the background!
Well no, actually the late 60s and 70s music paved the way and still remains the best music time and lyrics. Very relevant today… prophetic. 80s folks need to get out there and protect freedom of speech and music. Just sayin.
Loved that song!
I remember being 11 when this song came out and - I swear to God - was impressed that they retained their original sound but still made a brand new strip club banger.
Great song 🎵
Classic- need I say more?
Same thing with Crazy Bitch by Buck Cherry. Out of curiosity, does anyone else know any other songs where it's success is attributed to strippers?
Moni Moni falls very directly into the "yes it's sexual don't pretend it isn't" category, given Billy's approx.20 minute extended dance remix was based on roughly how long he considered a really, really good shag ought to take. It's been stripped to, a lot. Among other things 🫠
Summer ‘88. 19 years old, working at Hershey Park. The days of wine and roses and THAT SONG. My god those were good times.
Mons Venus and 2001 Odyssey in Tampa were the venues of choice back in the day when the boys came to town! Those places were on every single rider I ever got from every band's management doing a show within 100 miles of Tampa!! 😃 Amazing it was 37 years ago 😳
And many GenX women secretly dance to (and belt out) this song when it comes up in their playlist while their children look on in awkward horror after stumbling upon them in the kitchen. Or maybe that's just me. 😏
My wife used to sing in cover bands in the Northeast. She can confirm that every GenX and Elder Millennial white woman in the crowd would lose their minds.
I feel seen.. 😊
You are not alone!
😂🙂
Oh, if it’s playing in the car I’m windows down belting it out!
Just remember to stop the car if you plan on doing a strip tease to it. You know, for traffic safety. 😁
Yasssssss.
😄
Epic song!!! 🎸
One of the greatest songs ever
Great song. love it.
My favorite band in 2nd and 3rd grade!
Yeah the stripper scene in Tampa in the 80s and 90s was crazy.
As a teenager in South Florida in the 80's - I agree. That song was GODAMN EVERYWHERE. I hate it now.
Yeah. A lot of songs were over played back then. I don’t hate this song but a lot of them I do. Kids now think 80’s music is so cool and I’m like, “yeah, you go ahead…I’m good!” 😂
Joe Elliott had a ranch in Florida. I wonder if they were just supporting a fellow Floridian?
Dammit Carl 😂
Can attest. Great to strip to.
It also happens to be a great song
Omg I am old.. thanks Carl…
I saw them on that tour in Boise, Idaho!
Me too! Was stationed at Mtn. Home at the time.
Nice! That was a great night!
song still rocks to this day.
It is a great stripping song.
Great story behind the music😀 Good Lord was that really 37 yrs ago???😲 Wow. I sure miss those happy carefree days😎
🤣🤟
My forever favourite band!
I'm sure this is a fun story for him to tell, but just about every song on that album was a major hit. And I don't want to minimize the influence of Florida strippers, but their reach didn't extend to my Wisconsin middle school.
I agree - nice story but utter rubbish also. Hair metal.
They showed the video on MTV every hour for about a year. We loved it without other influences. smh
Dark day in our history. Lol
Great song, great band!
good stuff
I understand why they didn’t expect it to be a hit.
